Does your dog struggle when guests come over during the holidays? Either they are way too excited, scared, or both? Here are some tips to help!
Many dogs struggle with guests coming over during the holidays. Their mental bucket fills 🪣 and figurative water starts splashing everywhere 💦.
They might jump, bark, nip, or mouth at people. Others might be fearful, and go into a flight mode to get away (but many people don’t let them get away from the guests). Some dogs do a mixture of these things throughout the day. In these moments it’s hard to get their attention. Lights are on 💡 but nobody is home 🏠.
If you’re dog is like that, this video might help you set them
up for a more holiday get together!
Have you ever wanted to teach your dog to jump into your arms? Here’s a tutorial to show you how to teach the trick called 💥Dog Catch💥
⭐️Does your dog prefer running off with the toy instead of bringing it back?⭐️ Sometimes it’s because you chase them and dogs LOVE to be chased (so don’t do that with your fetch toys 😉). Other times they just would rather run around with it or go chew on it. Essentially because they don’t value bringing it to you as much as running around with it or chewing on it. Introducing a long line to help reel them back in can be extremely helpful in managing the situation. It sets them up for success, and reduces your potential frustration (getting mad/annoyed at them will hurt your chances at building their value in playing with you). Then show them that YOU are the fun one by praising them, throwing another toy, or playing tug with them. With consistency here, you should have a dog who starts to love playing with YOU!
