Dear all - all our volunteers are busy getting ready for the holidays - both for our families and our dogs.
Rescue never ends and sadly dogs need to be helped no matter what time of year. Recently one of our volunteers was approached about two dogs that were booked in to the vets to be put to sleep. Their crime? Their owner had passed and the family no longer wanted the dogs. The conditions they were kept in were appalling and they were rarely allowed out we honestly didnt think they were in the UK. We were really not sure if the rescue could take on the financial burden of more dogs, but we work with amazing people - and both our kennels and vets have stepped up and offered help!
Both dogs have lived together in that kennel - they have never been indoors, never been to the vet, never been to a groomer and never walked. Please welcome our two new Terrier SOS adoptables
Millie a collie is 12 years old - she is suffering with arthritis and will be getting a full health check soon. She is lovely and sweet and a typical collie - just wants to be with you - we are looking for a retirement home for her, somewhere that will let her live out the remaining days in comfort and warmth.
The other is a Patterdale Terrier - we are calling her Patsy as she should be a cast member in EastEnders! She is a typical Patterdale - energetic, feisty and cannot live with another dog. She is doing well in kennels and we are slowly seeing if she will be ok on lead with other dogs out of the house. She is alert around dogs as such a work in progress. She is 7 years old and a lovely fun terrier. She wants to be with you and is great with people - she has skin issues (may be diet related) and will be getting a full health check soon.
Both dogs need vaccinations and to be speyed along with further assessments. They could go to foster homes in the new year, but they will need support making that adjustment. Dogs never fail me and I know they will make wonderful companions.
