How I wish each animal here at Evermay got the chance to tell me their story, of life before coming into our care. Of why Honey has a ring around her neck where no fur grows. I can only surmise. She has other scars, bumps, and deformities. My heart hurts when I think of her age and of how sweet she is , did she live a rough life long? I wish Hazel could tell me why she, a tiny little thing , was in the street, running with large dogs. Or why Elsa showed up, was she dumped? What's Spencer's story, why was a hinny running around town? The cats, ohhh I'd need a day to listen to all their stories. Some came so sick. Moocher had "Bob cat disease", Peaches had an abscess as large as a lemon. Then there's all the rabbits. Oh I want to listen to each story so bad! Now ...there's Charlie. He had a vet visit over the weekend due to diarrhea. An x-ray was taken. He has a BULLET in him. I look at his big ol face and can only hope he knows he's safe. I won't hear their stories of " before " Evermay, but maybe it's better they don't have to think about it. I'll focus on their life story while here at Evermay. Join me. Charlie is a month in on his heartworm treatment! $300.00 has been raised of his over $500.00 heartworm vet bill. Charlie will be neutered next accruing another vet bill. He would LOVE a sponsor! Some days are tougher than others. Yesterday was just that. My plan was to take Fourth of July pics for all the sponsors. A trip to the ER for Tom ( aka Farmer Tom ) which lasted into the night halted that plan. Sick critters faced me when I left the hospital briefly to feed everyone back on the farm. Tom's Trigeminal Neuralgia spiked again last night, so sleep was put on hold too. But, in the middle of total chaos the animals somehow always manage to brighten my world. Friends and animals are the souls medicine! They keep me grounded. Ellen and Cheryl, thank you for being there for me.

Meet CHARLIE!!! Charlie is HEART WORM , stage 2, POSITIVE!
Charlie was found in Evermay's Tractor garage. How long he had been there is unknown. He had a pile of food wrappers he had collected in a corner where he was living. He had a skin issue which has cleared up nicely. Charlie is presently undergoing costly heartworm treatment. Please consider sponsoring this big boy or donating toward his vet care. evermayfarm.org

It's shedding time for the pigs!

Today is our longest residing resident's Gotcha Day. Lammmbert.( Pronounced as if bleating like a goat) He was born on a truck headed to the slaughter house. Slid out , saved and arrived at Evermay at three months old. He is a mellow, lay in the sun kinda guy. He has arthritis but handles it like a champ. With me he's like a dog that follows me around, except it's not as easy any more, so I let him rest most his day. He was Edmunds buddy, BFF , sidekick. Thank you Diane for being his sponsor.
