🚨August Pet of the Month 🚨🐶🌻

Say hello to our August Pet of the Month, Bebe! She is a 7 year old Yorkie owned by Fred & Barbara Geary. The Geary’s have had Bebe since she was a tiny puppy that they got from a family in Derby years ago. Bebe may be a small girl but she sure can run fast. When she was just a puppy they were all out for a walk and some bigger dogs scared her. She took off running home, leaving her owners in the dust. They were so worried that they wouldn't find her, but were pleased to find her sitting on the front porch waiting for them when they got home. Fred and Barbara were so impressed she knew her way home being such a young pup! Bebe still enjoys long walks and sunbathing in the front yard. She's not a picky eater but she sure does love her moist & meaty burger flavored food and the occasional piece of bacon from dad! Bebe does steer clear of cats because she does not consider them friends and she doesn't love nail trims at home, but does a great job getting them done with us here at the hospital! We love getting to see you Bebe!

🚨July Pet of the Month 🚨🐶🌞🎆

Meet our July Pet of the Month, Ella! She is a 15-week-old Australian Shepherd owned by Aimee and John Defore. Ella is a sweet little puppy that the Defore’s recently adopted into the family. You may occasionally see her in the Sheriff's office at work with John. She loves to lay under his desk, or even sometimes on it, for a good nap! Ella is full of energy and enjoys going to her Sit Stay dog training classes every weekend. Since her classes are in Wichita she gets to go for a car ride, another favorite activity of hers! While she is in training she gets one of her favorite treats, "America's Vet Dogs" peanut butter training treats. Those sound yummy! When she isn't at work with dad, or going to training classes, Ella loves to play with her sister Fiona. Before long Ella will be twice the size of her big sister! After a long day of being a cute and sassy pup Ella likes to wind down by laying out over the air vents to get all of the cool air she can. Silly girl! We love to see your sweet face here every time you come in!

Did you know that cheat and other grass seeds can get stuck in dogs' paws, and work their way into the skin between their toes? 🐾 It's painful! Keeping your dogs' paws trimmed during the spring and summer months can help minimize this.

🚨June Pet of the Month 🚨🐶🌞

Our June Pet of the Month is Bruno! He is a 20-month-old English Bull Terrier owned by Mike and Debra Sorg. Bruno is a rescue that has become part of the Sorg family. He loves going for walks and being around people. Bruno also loves getting attention from people and will talk to you to let you know he wants pets! After a long walk and lots of playing, Bruno likes to lay down and play with his toys or watch a good movie. He enjoys any movie with dogs or other animals, but one of his favorites is King Kong! Bruno is an obedient dog and listens very well. Bruno really is such a good boy! He also loves treats, especially the ones filled with peanut butter. Bruno, we hope your future is treat-filled! If we ever have a movie night here at the hospital, you will get the first invite!

🚨May Pet of the Month 🚨🐱🌻

Say hello to our May Pet of the Month, Midnight! He is a 10- year old Domestic Shorthair cat owned by Donna & Henry Hudson. Midnight was originally a stray that consistently hung out on the Hudson’s front porch. They decided to start feeding him and he never left. Midnight is a simple guy that just enjoys his regular cat food and doesn't like any fancy treats. One of his favorite past times is a good roll in the dirt. He loves that earthy smell! Midnight isn't a huge fan of other male cats or even many people for that matter. He recently came to see us for a suspected spider bite on his paw that caused his paw/ leg to swell. The swelling ended up getting worse and causing the skin on his paw and leg to die off. The decision was made to amputate his leg to give him a better life and the ability to get around on his own. Though he didn't much like spending time with us, due to his dislike of people other than his owners, we still think of him as a cool- cat! He is healing well from his surgery and getting around a lot better now and his hair is even starting to grow back! Keep on moving and grooving Midnight!

🚨April Pet of the Month🚨🐶🌼

Meet our April Pet of the Month, Big Tuna! He is a 2-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix owned by Jami Johnson. Big Tuna loves to chase his sister around the yard and play keep away with his favorite ball, when he is supposed to be playing fetch with his mom! He also enjoys wrestling with his little sister. They are quite the rambunctious duo! While he is very active, Big Tuna also loves to be loved on and told he is a good boy. His size may fool you into thinking he is a tough guy, but he is quite the softy! His favorite healthy treat is frozen carrots. He can't get enough of them, which is great because they are good for a growing boy! Big Tuna gets along with almost everything and everyone except birds and the dark. He does not like birds in his yard and will let them know they are not welcome. Big Tuna was a little rescue puppy, originally named Little Silas, and now he is an 80 lb. ball of love! He makes friends easily, including his favorite friends, goats and horses! We love getting to love on you and see you Big Tuna!

Our February Employee Pet of the Month is Maisie! She is a 21-month-old Border Collie mix owned by Cayla Hoch and her husband Travis. Maisie may be small but she is a big ball of energy that loves to run and play. Her favorite playmate is her brother Bandit! They spend hours running around the yard, playing and chasing their friend Poncho the cat. Maisie also loves stuffed animal toys. When she is tuckered out from outside activities, she likes to cuddle up with her big sister Murphy and a good toy. She loves peanut butter treats and the occasional chip from her dad, as well as any food that has dropped on the floor that she is fast enough to get to!
Maisie joined the Hoch family back in 2022, when a good Samaritan found her at the Barber County Fairgrounds after the county fair. She was only about 8 weeks old, and a woman who wasn't able to keep her brought her to Redland Veterinary Hospital to see if we could help her find a new home. Cayla took one look at her and knew she had to take her home! She instantly became a part of the family and has been well loved ever since. Maisie has always been a great patient and Redland Vet is happy to be a part of her rescue story!

🚨February Pet of the Month🚨🐶❤️

Say hello to our February Pet of the Month, Tink! She is a 8-year-old Daschund owned by Sherry Inslee. Tink is a special little girl who uses a walker with wheels to get around instead of her back legs. About three years ago she started having back issues one day and progressively got worse throughout that day and overnight. By the next morning she had lost most of her ability to use her back legs. Tink has learned how to use her wheels as her back legs and doesn't let anything stop her! She loves to race around the back yard chasing cats and squirrels, takes turns on 1 wheel and keeps rolling. She got a little ahead of herself a time or two and even took a tumble after running over a pipe in the yard while chasing a cat, but got right back up and kept going! Don't let the tough act fool you though, if the cat decides to turn around and chase her she is off and running in the other direction! Tink loves treats and most foods, including donuts and nudge treats. She doesn't care much for yogurt or bananas. After all of her running around she enjoys a nice nap in the chair with her mom! We love getting to see you at the hospital, Tink, running around with your wheels!

January Pet of the Month❄🐶

Meet our January Pet of the Month, Suzy! She is a 5-year-old Greyhound owned by Carol Strong. Suzy is a typical greyhound that loves to run and chase animals non-stop. She loves to hunt coyotes, rabbits and anything fast. She is one of many greyhounds that Carol owns, so she has plenty of friends to play with! Suzy enjoys eating meatballs, jerky and steak or anything beef related. She works up quite the appetite chasing other animals and her greyhound friends! Suzy recently came to us to have her tail partially amputated, due to a condition called “happy tail”. Happy tail syndrome in dogs occurs when their tail repeatedly hits solid objects with force during a wagging session, resulting in the thin skin of the tail splitting open. She was a great patient and got to stay with us for some extra care after her surgery and recovered well! Suzy you are always a great patient!
