We need a foster or permanent home ASAP for Momo & Hazel (6 & 8yrs). These sweet babies daddy passed away and his granddaughter took them in to keep them from going to a shelter. It’s been a few months now and no applications or inquires on this pair. They can’t stay where they are much longer. Please help us help them.

From life on a chain to surviving a brutal dog attack, Butters has endured more than most could imagine. She is a superpup, through and through.♥️🐶

Now 11 years old, Butters faces her biggest challenge: finding a home.🏠 After being mauled by another dog at the shelter, she prefers not to share her space with other animals—who could blame her??? But when it comes to people of all ages, Butters is perfect; she loves to love and loves to be loved.♥️

Life can be tough for a senior pibble with scars on her face, but Butters lives and loves as if she’s never had a bad day.🥹 Every milestone, smiling photo, and video of her pre-dinner wiggles remind us of the beauty and resilience of rescue dogs. It’s high time this big-hearted, precious mama finds her forever family.🐾

Adoptions this month are $100 to kick off our Summer of Love🎉. Apply to adopt Butters at nycscr.org/adopt

Interesting I never knew this. Now I feel differently about them.

“My friend grew up in New England where they have pigeons. Apparently they also hate them. He was always saying bad things about pigeons until I pointed something out that he never thought of before.”

“We domesticated pigeons. They are (nearly) all over the world because HUMANS BROUGHT THEM THERE. And, they were more than pets. They carried messages. People raced them. They lived spoiled lives as honored human companions for centuries.

Then we got telephones and we threw them out like trash.

Literally, we threw them away.

Their species had already been fully domesticated and they could not survive in the wild; they lost all their survival instincts during the centuries that they lived caged by people.

That is why they live in cities with people instead of in a forest somewhere. It’s OUR fault. And not only did we throw them away, but now humans curse them as “winged rats;” casting them as pests.

But they don’t know how to live without us, and their instincts tell us that they should trust us. So, they continue to come up to humans and beg for food, because it’s the only survival skill left in their genes.

They love us because they were bred by us to feel that way, and yet we hate them.”

-I love this post.

Ferris’ adoption fell through, and he now needs a foster or foster to adopt asap!!

He is a 14 week old Chihuahua mix pup. (Both parents were small dogs) He's very loving, sweet, curious and cuddly. He’s a Velcro puppy at heart, that would like nothing more than to be with his human at all times. He is happiest with his human, no matter what his human happens to be doing. He is VERY food motivated! He likes to play with toys, and will entertain himself a bit with them. He's working on leash training, and trying really hard on the potty training. Ferris would do best in a home where someone works from home or is retired. He also would love another small dog friend to learn how to "dog" from. He's curious about kids, but would do best with kids over 10. He has no experience with cats. Ferris is a sensitive little man looking for a new home that appreciates the little love he is. If you're looking for a constant companion in life, he might just be your match. He is not fully vetted yet, so he will need to be adopted in the Austin area, Fort Worth area, or the Houston area. Please keep in mind that we don't have transport for adopters at this time, so Ferris would need to be picked up by his adopters. He is currently being fostered in the greater Austin area.
