(If I didn’t already have almost 6 miles in today…. I’d walk for a Couple more hours JUST to enjoy the night to the fullest…. But I need to get some rest for my full day tomorrow 😓)

This cutie patootie has had a rough week.
(We all struggled a little… Journey fostered 6 of Riley’s pups from age of 2wks old…. Things were going wonderful… THEN Journey got a clogged/infected duct in one of her breasts.. which lead to formula supplementing until she cleared up.. and the pups ended up with explosive watery diarrhea… sending them all into almost deadly dehydration… which meant I was giving subQ fluids/feedings/cleanings around the clock for 3.5 days) after all of them overcome that obstacle.. all alive & well 🙌🏼… or so I thought… this little guy ended up with an abscess that bursted open.. Leaving a gaping whole by his armpit 😓… very much like the little “Superman puppy” from a few years back)
He’s a little trooper, and things are on their way to healing. It’s amazing to watch a gaping wound like this close up before your eyes 😱 I’m taking pictures to document his recovery… but some of them are graphic, so don’t look at the last pic if you are Squeamish.
But boy am I glad this last week is over with!! 😂🙌🏼
(Sleep deprived is an understatement for how I was getting by, as I have many fur babies in my care right now 🙃 but as always… the Lord got us all through it 🥰)

With all the “one year old” birthdays we just celebrated… I HAVE to post this reminder…
This is the most common time that these guys become overweight or obese (without their owners even realizing it).. WHY?? Because they are no longer growing at the rates they once were.. growing puppies take in a lot of calories… but as they become adults and their growth plates are closing…. It is time to “reevaluate their daily intake” 💕
You shouldn’t be able to SEE their ribs (maybe the very last one)… but you should be able to feel/palpate them VERY EASILY 💕
We want them at a 4-5 body score..
Too many labs out there (young ones even)….
Are scoring between 7-9
It truly effects their health, longevity, and makes them more susceptible to ligament injuries/tears..
I’m ONLY a stickler about this because I CARE❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️🐾☺️

PS… IF you find your dog is overweight…. Please
DON’T go buy a “diet food” for them❤️
Simply reduce their intake, substitute green beans, sliced carrots, maybe couple blueberries for treats instead of store bought processed ones..

-example…. If you are feeding 3 cups per day, and they SHOULD be eating 2cups per day to “regulate their proper weight”… then only feed 1.5-1.75 cups per day until desired results are achieved… and then bump them up to 2 cups to keep them at that healthy weight 😉 *this is an EXAMPLE… every dog will vary
