We should reconsider what we percieve to be "normal" expectations for dogs, and what dogs really are. Setting unrealisic goals for sets us up for failure rather than success.

Imagine being in a room crowded of strangers and expected to behave as if every single one of these strangers was a long time friend or family. How uncomfortable would it feel to hug and kiss these strangers.

Rather, consider an alternative scenario:
Have dogs interact in small groups of three to five, taking frequent breaks. Only staying in a group for a short moment before moving on. This prevents overstimulation and decreases the likelihood of incidents.

Disclaimer: Although this is the first time Romi has come to A P***y Puppy, he has been working on his grooming behaviour before this big day! If this is your doggo's first time with a new groomer, or being groomed in general, they may need to take more time, or more breaks, before they are comfortable with being groomed in a specific environment.

Please be patient with them!

Romi goes to a P***y Puppy! Perfect opportunity to show a Meet & Greet. This is a great way for the doggo to get familiar with a new groomer. Every groomer is a little different, so it's important to allow the dog to meet them before they're groomed by them for the first time.

Romi is already familiar with the grooming process, so he catches on pretty quick. If your dog is new to being groomed professionally, or even being groomed in general, it may take more tries. Be patient!

He is my Epona now!
There are many ways to teach recall! Although Romi has learned to respond to verbal recall, I decided to add something new!
Watch Romi learn to recall to Epona's Song from Legend of Zelda. Not included in the video is priming Romi to the sound of the ocarina.
The next step after this is to teach him to differentiate between the Song and other ocarina sounds.

Tricks & Games! Have fun bonding with your dog through games. Put your observation and handling skills to use! Throughout this course, we are focusing on our ability to read our companion's body language and, through different techniques, use what we see to create behaviors we like. What I do

I am a Dog Trainer certified by the International Academy of Canine Training. I use my background in Psychology and understanding of canine behaviour to train and foster a positive relationship between dog and owner. My goal is to help people bond with their furry best friends. Whether we are working out specific issues or learning new cues, I strive to create an atmosphere that encourages a positive relationship with you and your dog!

My Process

Each dog and pup learns a little differently and at a different speed. Some tire out quicker than others. Part of what I do is tailor the training sessions to match the pace of the dog. If your pup becomes tired out after 30 minutes, then I will keep each session to 30 minutes. If they can go for a full hour, then I will plan out the session to reach that full hour. Everything is adapted to suit your pup.
