🌟🌟Smarty Pets Star of the week🌟🌟

This week’s star of the week is Dexter! 🎉

Dexter is a three year old Spaniel cross … who knows what else. 😆 He’s a beautiful boy!

Likes - Dexter loves being outdoors, sniffing, running and playing with his “sister” Jenny. He also loves crawling on his tummy! 😆

Struggles - Dexter can be choosy about who he wants to walk with and seems to prefer girls. This week he met Lily with no problem at all and made a new friend.

(He’s not aggressive towards other dogs but can be grumbly and tense with some. Knowing the dogs well means I can easier predict who they may or may not like. Lily is a very kind, calm girl who radiates a happy chill minding her own business vibe. 🥰)

🌟🌟Smarty Pets Star of the week!🌟🌟

This week’s star of the week is Mair! 🎉🎉

Mair is a three year old lab.

Likes - Mair loves running about in the woods and a game of chase with any dog up for it.

Dislikes - I’m just getting to know Mair and she seems to like every thing. However she is on her second home in her little life and can be a bit cautious about some things.

How I help her - Sometimes she’s unsure about putting her harness on and this week she wasn’t sure if she was going to come downstairs. So we sat on the stairs and had a chat about it and a couple of biscuits and she soon decided I was great and a walk was just what she needed. 🥰

Mair travelled beautifully in the car and has been a star with every dog I’ve introduced her to! Playful with those who want to play and respectful of those who want a quieter time or some space. Well done Mair! 🎉🎉

Lovey peaceful walk this morning. Lots of sniffing… and Mair and Cooper enjoyed a game of chase.

Not many photos of these three today… understandable as our lives were in danger from weapon wielding men…. Not really…. They were actually very nice men painting the white lines round the edge of pitches…. But try telling these three that! 😆

If your dog is bothered by fireworks try playing the sound of Japanese Taiko Drumming. The rhythmic noise seems to camouflage the bangs better than classical music (based on my highly non-scientific study of one!).

It’s made a huge difference to Charlie who is not a fan of fireworks!

It’s the 5th. We KNOW there are going to be fireworks tonight so....

𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙙𝙤𝙜𝙨 -

🐾 exercise your dog before dark
🐾 keep them on lead, even in the garden
🐾 ensure their collar/harness is well fitted & snug
🐾 make sure they have an ID tag on their collar/harness just in case
🐾 if you use meds give them before the bangs start
🐾 if your dog seeks reassurance give it. You will NOT make things worse by offering calm reassurance.
🐾 don’t take unnecessary chances...always err on the side of caution. Every year dogs run off because their owners let them off lead on the 5th. Just don’t do it if there’s the slightest risk they might be spooked by a bang.

𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨 -

💥 don’t set them off in the hours of daylight
💥 try to finish by 9pm
💥 buy silent fireworks if you can get them
💥 stick to the 5th
💥 if you are having a fireworks party let your neighbours with animals know so that they can do what they need to to keep their pets safe

Whether you love fireworks or hate them a little bit of caution & consideration goes a long way to getting everyone through tonight safely.
