In regards to the white dog on Evelyn Avenue in Lucasville:
Our humane agent in conjunction with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department has responded to the address. The dog in question is 17-years-old and is currently under the care of a local veterinarian.
While we appreciate everyone who has reached out on behalf of this dog, we respectfully ask for the comments and threats to cease.
This situation has been handled. The dog does have access to food and water. The dog is not tied up 24/7.
Our local warden has also responded as a courtesy to our agent. The Scioto County Dog Pound and wardens have jurisdiction over dogs at large, county dogs tags, and dog bites. Please do not flood their phone lines with calls about possible neglect and abuse as this makes it impossible for calls about dogs at large to go through.
Our humane agent has done a phenomenal job responding to calls and texts. If you would like to inquire about an animal you have reported, you can message this page and we will get back with you.
We ask for your patience and support. As of today, the pound is at capacity. Sierra’s Haven is beyond capacity. Both facilities are voluntarily housing animals from abuse cases as we wait for direction from our judges. These animals cannot be released until judgement is made.
Also, in addition to trapping and rescuing dogs at large throughout our community and beyond, Rico Pet Recovery has been steadily pulling dogs from the pound, striving to ensure no dog is euthanized due to lack of space.
Donations towards any of these entities is greatly appreciated.
Lastly, please be kind. Great changes are happening in this county that are long overdue. The sheriff’s department, Scioto County Dog Pound, the Scioto Area Humane Society, Sierra’s Haven, Shawnee Animal Clinic, & Rico Pet Recovery are all working together for the welfare and benefit of animals in this community.
