It's that time of year. My favorite time of the year. When I take Jolene for a walk, I see pumpkins, sunflowers and changing 🍃 🍂 🍁.

Even saw my first Halloween decoration. And it reminded me of painting this pug with sunflowers and pumpkins.

I'm selecting cards to be sold at our neighborhood bagel shop, .

While I love to paint pugs, not all my neighbors are pug lovers, so I want to only display one of these 4 designs.

Do you have a favorite? Let me know!

One more factor is I will display a card with a fawn pug that has a sign that says "Hello Fall". So maybe not the cards with the signs?

(You think this is bad, wait for winter holiday cards!)

About to add this card to my etsy shop. Trying to come up with the tagline,
"Childless Cat Ladies/We are Legion" is the name of the painting.
"Working for a better future" may be what we are all working toward.

I just cancelled my New York Times coverage. I've been unhappy with their inequal coverage of the 2024 election for some time.

I want to read good journalism. I want to read election stories that cover the true issues at stake during this election cycle. I don't want stories that convey the idea that you can win a debate with spewing lies. I want reporting based on policies and ability to get hard things done.

I'm thinking about subscribing to Slate or Salon. Any other ideas?

When your hiding space has been discovered

Santa probably doesn't have time to pet your dogs right now. He is planning his route around the world to deliver toys to kids, lucky dogs and fortunate felines.

However, many shelters and pet stores host Santa early in the holiday season so pups can whisper their dreams in Santa's ear.

Here, Santa is appreciating these two greyhounds discriminating wish lists. What do you think they asked for?

I paint what I know: Santa has my partner's nose and my grandpa's piercing blue eyes.

Another card based on Jolene.

Look at her sad face. Only one present under tree. With her luck, its probably coal... and we know she eats coal so it might be a very messy Christmas morning.

About eating coal, We have grapes in our yard and they are between two fences so dog cannot get to them. But when I was away, Rick noticed one of the fences was pushed away from the other. He fixed it then noticed Jolene acting funny. A visit to the emergency vet ensued. They induced vomiting and Jolene was led back to him. She was so excited to see him that she jumped all over him and licked his face with her tongue. The vet assistants started snickering and told him to go look at himself. He did and his face was covered in charcoal everywhere her tongue had touched... because they used charcoal to help absorb the juices.

More Santa cards. One year I drew a lot of Santas. I was just starting to play with patterns, so if I am without ideas for next year's cards, I can revisit and paint Santa surrounded by textiles and pugs and greyhounds and pitbull and .... any ideas?

Are you doing cards this year? If so, have you finished?

Seattle folks can visit Georgetown locations and pick up a trading card in the Georgetown Scavenger Hunt. A complete set is twelve cards. This is mine.

The cards will be hidden in Georgetown locations until February 15th, 2024. We grabbed one from when we went to dinner last night.

This was, I think, the final Hanukkah I sold on Etsy this year. I did make sure that the customer knew that they probably wouldn't get it in time for Hanukkah and she said it didn't matter....

A couple of years ago, I started transitioning to glossy paper for my cards I especially love how this card looks on glossy paper.

It's a greyt day to race around in the snow. At least for these three. Here in Seattle, my poor Jolene stalwardly marched to our designated turnaround point and then galloped home to escape the rain. Like these greyhounds, she didn't have much a heavy coat but she wore a purple raincoat.

How do your four legged like the winter weather?

This poor greyhound looking creature looks worried aboutcthe green monster in the corner ofcthe room. Must not have been properly introduced. ;)

While I am not that thrilled about the greyhound expression from this card from a few year's back, I do like all the colors in this card. That teal blue is one of my favorites. But I think the tree could have benefited from more yellow and the greyhound could be a touch more realistic.

Don't get me wrong, I am not aiming for realism. But I think I was observed in the brindle pattern and not caring about structure as much... it's a fine line

Happy Hanukkah. I do worry about the last Hanukkah card order from Etsy that arrived on Sunday and I sent yesterday. I do hope it arrives on time.

As I was looking through my Hanukkah cards, I realized that this is Cassie (Hopalong Cassidy, Sassy Cassie, and an infinite other variations, now deceased) and Buddy, who was just in the kitchen, yowling while holding in his teeth his rainbow fuzzy ball.

Sweet memories. Now off to bake biscotti.

Rose and Spencer are feeling better. Both of them vomited several times Saturday night and were quiet yesterday.

The other cats refused to eat the same food so maybe there was something wrong with the lot number? Or maybe I didn't fully clean up the shampoo/conditioner I used to wash my hair? Or maybe they drank/walked in/cleaned their paws in the new odor remover/cleaner that I used on Saturday?

Just glad they are better and back to annoying me when I brush my teeth and fulfill my Etsy orders.

Do you buy presents for your four-leggeds?

I confess I'm driving around with a new stuffy for Jolene in my car. I gave the monkeys (my grand niece's cats) a new treat and our senior cat got a new fluffy ball.

If we had a tree I'd feel more excited about presents, but we still are in remodel chaos, so we don't decorate.
