This pretty little girl is 2 weeks old. She and her brothers have moved in with the herd except at night. They are growing and exploring.

So.. Sage the "NONBRED" doe is obviously pregnant and maybe in early labor!
Of course it's opening day of the county fair, it's 90s all week, and the flies are terrible this year!
She really doesn't look very excited, and I'm trying to get the kidding bag and pen ready for our pending arrivals! !!

Opposite of popular belief, goats are picky eaters! But they are excellent brush cleaners. They keep the brush in the woods under control and fertilize at the same time!

She was such a good girl for her first show.

Last Friday we had 3 moms all deliver! Rosie started us out with 3girls and 1 boy. We barely had everyone cleaned up and we noticed Aster hiding out pushing! She delivered 3 beautiful girls easily! Then Velma started pushing with first boy who Cassie Edwards had to pull due to breech position. Then things became jammed up with 2 kids trying to exit at the same time. So after the dreaded 130am call to the kind Eel River Veterinary Clinic we loaded her up in the truck for her 2nd C section.
Fortunately one girl was born with a heart beat, the other one was not.
She will be moved to the retired status !

Last week was a bit crazy! So I'm a bit behind sharing. Thursday evening, SJ Fiona delivered quads!
4 boys! That brought our ratio boys-6, girls-1.
The last boy was definitely smaller weighing in at 1 # 10 oz. He spent a bit of time inside getting warm.
He is feisty and adorable!! All are gaining well. Fiona is doing beautiful. 4 more does are due.
Would definitely like more pink!!

Easter Sunday, we had to say goodbye to one of our foundation Does.
Bayabi was older when she joined our herd, but she certainly moved right up to the top quickly.
She was truly a herd queen, a great momma,quiet but managed the herd efficiently. She intercepted any battles by stepping in between the unruly. She was a fierce protector of kids. After retirement, she adopted all the kids, and you knew she would protect them all.
The barn is missing her, and we are missing her! Rest in peace sweet girl!
Thank you, Cassie, for helping her pass peacefully even though it was breaking your own heart.
We are so blessed to have your skills and help❤️
