Plenty of ovulations still, seems to be a phenomenal season. Spoken to a few breeders in mainland Europe who all saying similar.

Still only averaging 5.4 eggs a clutch, with a slug % of 5%. Much bigger females left to lay, so I think we will break the 6 egg average, not bad considering over 70% of the females were less than 1500g when we started pairing up.

Was starting to wind down the introduction of males, but this morning had over 85% locked up. Probably keep going now until the end of June. 😀

About 70% of the males locked up over night, by tomorrow it’ll go up about another 10% and then Monday maybe another 3% and any that haven’t locked up by then get one extra night, this normally adds about 1 or 2 more.

So 1893 introductions, and 1061 confirmed locks, since this season started on 19th October 2023.
Obviously this includes multiple locks and introductions to same females. These are all 2021 females and what’s interesting so far is the 15 or so that are building or ovulated are all the oldest from 2021, May & June hatch dates, nothing so far younger than a June hatch date even though many of the younger ones are way bigger.

This girl is taking forever go get to size but she’s heading in the right direction.

Blackhead is another one of my favourite genes. Hoping for lots of super blackhead combos this season.
