For Lexi Being a professional pet sitter was definitely not on my vision board in college. It was a career that landed in my lap and wrapped itself around my heart before I even realized what was happening. I've learned a lot over the past decade in the industry about people, about families, about pets. Clients come and go. Households change. People move on & begin new adventures in other places. For one reason or another, I become a part of their stories along the way and get to share in the joy of their pets. Sometimes I come into the picture at the beginning when the pets are brand new, full of energy and curiosity. Sometimes it's in the middle when they're already opinionated and set in their ways. Sometimes it's when they are tired, close to the rainbow and all they need is a quiet friend to sit beside them. There are some families that come and stay, some that take me along their journey no matter where it goes. There are some stories, like Lexi's, that I get the privilege to be a part of from beginning to end. I got to share eight wonderful years with you, sweet girl. We had eight years of shenanigans, eight years of snuggles. I met you when you were gnawing on the drywall and running laps around the pool. For years I couldn't take a picture of you that wasn't blurry. Over time you got a little slower, but your knack for hunting lizards and frogs never waivered. You still ate things you weren't supposed to but you lost your taste for drywall, thankfully. You watched my babies grow into toddlers and then kids. You trained them to give you lots and lots of treats, and you kept them safe too. I always looked forward to your late night cuddles on the couch, even though you consistently stole the blankets. You will forever be the best smelling dog I've ever met in my life and I will miss having conversations with you and staring into your big, emotional eyes. Pet sitting is full of a lot of joy and a lot of love. I go into every house knowing that one

These unlikely siblings are my pets of the month for September & October. Red is the happiest companion, full of curiosity & in a constant state of excitement.
