Our Origin Story

Bone and Bred is a city-focused dog accessories brand that launched in Toronto, Canada April 2018. We create high quality dog collars, leashes, bowls and other accessories that allow dogs to show their city pride alongside their owners. Currently we have launched a Canadian set and Toronto set of products, with Vancouver and Calgary currently in production.

Bone and Bred was founded by two female entrepreneurs, Jaimmie Riley and Georgia Nevison. The founders first met at ages 4 and 5, growing up on the same street in Toronto and pursuing entrepreneurship together from a young age through selling cherries, lemonade and even busking with their cello and violin. Working alongside one another in marketing, the two founders left their jobs, deciding to build their own marketing company. While the two also grew a business within the baby market, the two founders were fiercely proud dog moms and had an idea to bring something special to the dog market.

The idea all started in October 2017 when the two really wanted a collar that had the Toronto skyline. It took a lot of designing, a lot of prototypes and testing manufacturers, to produce a really high quality product in April 2018, that Toronto dog owners are now proudly supporting all over the city.

The inspiration for the brand is definitely from the founder’s dogs, Porter and Beans. Keep an eye on our photos, these two doggos are frequently featured.
