Colin the Cat This is about Colin the Cat who lived at Braintree Station for some 6-8 years and retired in 2015. She has been succeeded by a fiesty 12-year-old named Fudge.

Sadly, Colin passed on in December 2019 at the grand old age of 19.

'Ello all. Sorry I've not been in touch but I've been working away 24/7 with the old dear as she did her back in tugging on an old bush root back in June and has been needing plenty to of pet therapy since then. She's not walking too well and I've been keeping her company in her recliner chair and in bed. Old Colin was a dab hand at this so I couldn't let the side down and having a nice warm lap is a bonus. Tata for now!

What a day I had yesterday! The old couple decided it was a good idea to start moving bedroom furniture around so you can imagine my annoyance when she starts dumping things on my bed! I had to retreat to the conservatory and make do with a cushion on a chair for the day. Finally, it all quietened down but I then had to make a thorough inspection to find out what had been moved where and if it smelt any different. I just about managed a few mouthfuls of my evening feed before staggering back to my bed to collapse. Should mention that I do allow the old dear to sleep on my bed at night.

At last, sunshine! Plenty of places indoors and out for me to sunbathe in too. Mind you, the food service has been a bit patchy with the old dear having a bad back and struggling to get down to my bowls and the old bloke hobbling around after he dropped a flower pot on his foot. Dangerous things flowerpots. Mind you, it wouldn't be the first time I'd been shut in the greenhouse after sneaking in for a quick nose around.......

The old dear is back from a return visit to the 'kitten' having deserted the old bloke and myself for nearly a week. It seems she enjoyed herself there, getting her walking boots muddy and getting a pedicure into the bargain! None of that for me, thanks - I like my talons nice and sharp. Besides which the last time the vet gave me one I really kicked off - don't think they'd be trying to do that again! The old dear was also telling me all about the cat at the 'kitten's' house - a nice looking bit of stuff by the name of Winston. She was even showing me his picture - nice enough but a bit young for me. He did send me a Christmas present though - this mouse that the old dear insists on keeping in a bag, unless I'm freaking out over it, due to the smell. Forget catnip - valerian and German spelt is the new high for me! Any of you want to treat your special feline, look out for Baldi Maus!

Well, the 'kitten' has gone home and normal routine resumes. Actually, I sort of warmed to her in the end - within limits. The old dear was certainly put through her paces in the walks they did - but she wants to do more and is even raking out her old walking boots! Madness really. I ask you, would you rather spend the day trudging up hills in the wind when you could be snuggled up in a nice warm duvet? I do wonder about her sometimes as she's supposed to be retired and spends her days rushing around for one thing or another.....

I'm definitely not happy. This strange hooman has turned up and is staying here and expects me to be all welcoming! The old dear keeps telling me that this is her kitten - bit of a stretch as 'kitten' is 43... My routine is turned on it's head and I've responded to her advances in the usual manner - claws out and hissing. I might reconsider as the old dear is giving me lots more attention and treats!
