Reliable leash manners, solid sit-stays / down-stays, or the ability to come when called around distractions is probably the greatest gift you can give to your dog.
You can't predict or control the world around you. You can't make others be respectful of you or your dogs personal space. And you can't always avoid owners who don't have control of their dogs.

Behavior rehabilitation updates just hit differently.
Rosie struggled with lack of confidence. Which caused pushy, inappropriate behavior. She didn't like when Bailey (the other dog in the home) became excited or overly enthusiastic.
Rosie was also very suspicious of new people, people she sort-of knew, or heavy commotion situations.
She also had a tendency to resource guard one of her owners.
One day, Rosie's behavior escalated. Creating a very scary, overwhelming moment for her owners.
They reached out to us because they wanted an honest assessment of the situation and if they could keep Rosie. Now that they had a baby on the way.
While all reactive / aggressive dogs can benefit from training. Not all can safely stay in a home where past triggers exist. This is why it's imperative to seek QUALIFIED trainers for assessments like this.

Wonder why your harness that claims to end pulling isn't working. Heres why.
As a consumer, it is important to remember marketing, is marketing. The goal is to sell the product. Not necessarily tell the truth.
This doesn't mean harnesses are bad. This doesn't mean harnesses can't help an owner. But, if you don't see immediate results (dog slowing down or responding to the pressure of the harness), it's not going to end the pulling. And can make walking even more difficult. Harnesses leave little room for feedback from the leash and make the act of pulling more comfortable.

Surprisingly, Lulu is not the oldest student we've ever had. At 10 years old, Lulu had some pretty established behaviors. She was reactive on leash towards people and dogs.
When Wags joined the family, their owner noticed that he was starting to display the same behaviors as Lulu. And that Lulu was getting overstimualted and redirecting back at Wags on walks. (What is happening at the beginning of this video.)
Rehursed, established "bad" behavior takes more time to address. But it's not impossible. It's about understanding what motivates the dog to offer unwanted behaviors. And what motivates the dog to find value in better behavior.

When I first met Dobby, he growled at me, got overwhelmed when I moved, and nipped at my leg. I don't like using the term "aggressive" with dogs like this. It's more fear reactivity and self-preservation. Aggressive dogs like the fight. Fearful dogs just want to feel safe.
While that kind of behavior isn't acceptable. Usually, dogs like this are looking for a helping hand and guidance. Balanced training is all about finding what the dog responds to and what will help them come to the right conclusions on their own.
You CAN'T punish fear out of a dog. You CAN help them understand acceptable and unacceptable behavior. While creating positive experiences for them.

Miss Willa has come a long way since her evaluation!
Her pulling on the leash was making it difficult for her owners to handle her. She'd pull, grab the leash, and completely ignore what her owners asked.
