💔 Hoy brilla un otro estrella en el cielo. Lunares ha cruzado el arco iris, tras un baja de unos semanas (desde cuando se ha installado en mi cocina - y corazón) hasta las últimas días cuando se notaba un importante retención de líquido en la barriga, y nuestro veterinario constata un tumor.
Ella y su hermana Lucia venían a CANTALOBOS hacia 2,5 años, tras fallimirnto de sus dueño. Nunca tenía suerte a ser adopta 😞. Espero que estos últimos semanas, o menos te has sentido querida, preciosa Luni 💖.

💔 Today another star shines in the sky. Lunares has crossed the rainbow, after a few weeks of being weak (since then she has occupied my kitchen - and heart) until the last few days when I noticed a significant fluid retention in her belly, and our vet confirmed a tumor.
She and her sister Lucia came to CANTALOBOS 2.5 years ago, after her owner passed away.She was never lucky enough to be adopted 😞. I hope that at least these last few weeks you have felt being loved, precious Luni 💖.

😊😊😊 Today we are very happy to announce the ADOPTION of Betty, who is a wonderful Labrador cross. She came to us as a puppy, and waited for 3,5 years 😞 for her own family.
Thanks to Annette Schönhoff for the referral, Betty will stay locally in Spain.

😊😊 Hoy estamos muy felices de anunciar la ADOPCIÓN de Betty, una hermosa cruz de Labrador. Ella vino a nosotros cuando era cachorrita y esperó 3,5 años 😞 por su propia familia.
Gracias a Annette Schönhoff por la referencia, Betty sigue siendo local en España.

To continue with our donations post: Julia Neumeyer and Saarland send us well needed safety harnesses, collars and wet food, for which our volunteers are very grateful, as it helps keeping dog-walks safe and bellies satisfied.

After an intense week, its time to say thank you to everybody that has been helping the dogs and the volunteers to get Cantalobos a dryer and safer place after the flooding of the outer areas.
First we like to thank Katolino e.V., for the donations of tools and especially dogbeds to keep the dogs snuggled and safe from the wet and cold outside.

Después de una semana intensa, es hora de dar las gracias a todos los que han estado ayudando a los perros y a los voluntarios para conseguir que Cantalobos sera un lugar más seco y seguro después de la inundación de las zonas exteriores.
En primer lugar, queremos agradecer a Katolino e.V., por las donaciones de herramientas y, especialmente, camas para los perros para mantener a los perros acurrucados y a salvo de la humedad y el frío del exterior.

🟡 ACTUALIZACION: Muchos gracias a todos que han ofrecido acogidas y donaciones y por venir ayudarnos a limpiar/ameliorar los patios.
Estamos hablando por WhatsApp para coordinar.
Hoy el ayuntamiento ha venido a egalisar el camino de entrada, ya estamos accesible con coches normales.
Los perros están en suelos secos, y mañana podemos empezar a traerles a sus acogidas temporales.

🟡 UPDATE: Many thanks to everyone who has offered foster care and donations and for coming to help us clean/improve the patios.
We are talking on WhatsApp to coordinate.
Today the city council send bulldozer to level the access road, we are now again accessible with normal cars.
The dogs are on dry grounds, and tomorrow we can start bringing them to their temporary foster homes.

This happy group photo is de culmination of 6 weeks of sweat and hard work, dedication and vision… especially together with my friend Clare Newland, when we realized that Refugio Cantalobos, where more that 200 dogs were sheltered, needed a new management, better organization of the residencial volunteers and a lot of repairs (thanks and friends).
All to make the life’s of the dogs in our care more bearable, with more walking, socializing, attention for health problems…
Thanks to the Workawayers that came from all over the world to lend a hand in difficult circumstances. Big shout out to Angel, who stepped in at the beginning of the turn-over and had to discover with us the extend of the state of things.
We are confident that Laia, together with Oliver, Lucas and Daria form a great team to welcome and guide the volunteers so the experience is gratifying for everyone.

‼️‼️ But… the main urgency is getting dogs out and adopted (we now have 164 dogs there). The owner wants to sell and gave us an ultimatum of 31/12 to considerably lower the number of dogs.
We will start a big adoption project.
SOS Animales Salobrena

Esta feliz foto de grupo es la culminación de 6 semanas de sudor y trabajo duro, dedicación y visión… sobre todo junto a mi amiga Clare Newland, cuando nos dimos cuenta de que el Refugio Cantalobos, donde se albergaban más de 200 perros, necesitaba una nueva gestión, una mejor organización de los voluntarios residentes y muchas reparaciones (gracias y amigos).
Todo para hacer más llevadera la vida de los perros a nuestro cuidado, con más paseos, socialización, atención a problemas de salud… Gracias a los Workawayers que vinieron de todo el mundo para echar una mano en circunstancias difíciles. Un gran agradecimiento a Angel, que intervino al principio del cambio y tuvo que descubrir con nosotros la magnitud de la situación.
Estamos seguros de que Laia, junto con Oliver, Lucas y Daria forman un gran equipo para acoger y guiar a los voluntarios para que la experiencia sea gratificante para todos.

‼️‼️ Pero… la mayor urgencia es sacar a los perros en adopción (ahora mismo están 164 perros allí). El dueño quiere vender y nos dio un ultimátum hasta el 31/12 para que bajemos considerablemente el número de perros.
Vamos a iniciar un gran proyecto de adopción.
