you MUST include a CONTACT PHONE NUMBER as well as the EXACT AREA WITH STREETS/ROADS where lost or found. ALL posts MUST include that information. Pictures go a long way in helping to get your pet found or find the owner, & it is best to include any photos at the time that you submit your post so they are included in the shared posts. With lost cats please also include the following: Male/female,
spayed or neutered, wearing a collar/description, is the cat normally an indoor outdoor or both? The more information provided, the better. ALWAYS get calls into your local dog control officer, & area shelter's! If you have lost a dog you will be giving them a "lost dog report" If you have found a dog you will be giving a "found dog report" With a found dog, BY LAW those calls must be made. Finder's remember that a found pet IS NOT YOUR PET to keep OR to re home. There is someone frantic to find their family member! In addition to keeping that pet from it's rightful owner you are in violation of the law. Dog control and the shelter's are where owner turn to find their missing pet so, ALWAYS - ALWAYS - ALWAYS get those calls made immediately! If you see a lost pet: A sighting - CALL the number in the heading of the post RIGHT AWAY, & give that information directly to the owner. Time is crucial when a lost pet is sighted, & it cannot be stressed enough, CALL THE OWNER! For dogs running at large: Try to keep an eye on the dog. Call your local dog control officer or the police for the safety of the animal. If you can stop to take a photo, you can make those calls. If you submit a post, lost or found: KEEP IN TOUCH! Give updates. We need to know the status of the pet. Posts that are not updated will be deleted after a 2 week period if we do not hear from you. Although this page is essentially for Broome County we will, & DO post for outlining counties, & the state of PA where it border's Broome. Why? Because lost pets are at times stolen or removed from the area where they went missing, & or can travel some distance. We will, & do post "courtesy" posts (out of the area posts for owner's wanting a wider reach to locate a missing pet)
We will, & do post found deceased pet posts to provide closure should the deceased pet be a missing pet. No photo will be posted however, we will more often then not have one on file. We provide accurate, & timely updates. Those updates will be posted in the top of the heading of the post. Be sure to check out the "NOTES" section of the page located on the left side of the page. ***NEW*** Found dogs who are at area shelter's, & go unclaimed will be featured when they become available for adoption. These dogs were once lost dogs we become familiar with while helping to locate the owner. We feel that follow through to a happy ending is important to show. We also hope that our follower's sharing the available for adoption posts will help that once lost pet find a loving home.These dogs will be in an album titled: NOW AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.
