Farmhouse Labradors We are a dog breeder specializing in health tested, AKC Standard Labrador Retrievers. We are a Labrador Retriever breeder located in Lexington, NC.
(25)

We have 4 female Labradors, Kalisy, Malena, Mila & Ana, and one male Labrador named Willys (pronounced Willis). All of our Labradors are AKC standard and we DO NOT produce any dilute dogs and make sure to keep lines clean and protected! Kalisy (pronounced Ca-LEE-see) is a 2 year old black Labrador that we imported from Serbia when she was 4 months old. Even though Kalisy does conformation dog show

s, she also has been to hunting school. She now has her Started (Junior) and Seasoned (Senior) hunt titles. Mila is a yellow female Labrador that turned 2 years old in May 2021. We also imported Mila from Serbia as a young puppy. Mila does mainly conformation dog shows. Malena is a 3 year old chocolate Labrador that we imported as a young adult from Serbia. She has her Champion and her Grand-Champion titles for Conformation (show) in Serbia. We got Malena from the same breeder in Serbia as Kalisy and Mila. We especially wanted to add her to our pack (even as a young adult) to be able to keep back a puppy from her for our own personal lines. Willys (pronounced Willis). Willys is a one year old black male Labrador import from Mexico. He will be 2 years old in August 2021. He had already started conformation dog shows in Mexico and will continue to finish out his titles here in the US. The newest member to the Farmhouse family is Ana. Ana is now a one year old black Labrador that we imported from Mexico at 4 months old. Ana is from the same breeder as Willys. Ana will hopefully be starting to do conformation shows in the next couple of months. All of our Labradors are genetically tested through PawPrint genetics and will never be affected by any genetic diseases in the Labrador Retriever Essential panels and/or Labrador Retriever Supplemental panels. Before we ever add any dogs into our breeding program, we also make sure they have OFA certified Hips and Elbows. PUPPIES:
Our puppies are raised indoors in an exceptionally clean environment with very small children and are constantly supervised and handled (as I am a stay at home mom). Puppies are wormed at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks, get shots at 6 weeks old and I also do f***l tests before they come home as well. My veterinarian comes to my house to vet check puppies and do vaccines before they go home at 8 weeks old. We do this because it is a cleaner environment than a vet office and puppies won't be exposed to major diseases and viruses since their immune system is new and not built up yet. We also start to desensitize our puppies at a early age to different sights, sounds, textures, surfaces, etc. This is very important because it teaches them to be confident and curious when faced with changes in their environment, as opposed to being frightened and stressed by change. The reason for this is puppies that are raised in a stimulus rich environment have proven to be calmer, more confident, and welcoming to new experiences!

Love pup updates! 🐾 This is Bosco (the old “Bodie” off Kalisy’s Beach litter from summer 2021). He loves to go hiking with his owners and just got a new fur sister this past weekend from our Labrador breeder friends, Tammy and Grant at Fairfax English Pines Labradors.

‼️Important post:
Hello Farmhouse friends!

I know I know…. It’s literally been forever (over 5 months) since I have posted anything. So I wanted to give an update on what has been going on.

As you all know, I had my 3rd child back in July of last year, and she’s 9 months old now. I also had my last litter in October last year and they went to their forever homes in December 2021. In saying this, that was my last litter I have had and unfortunately that is probably my last litter that I will be producing as Farmhouse Labradors. 😞

I have been a Labrador breeder for 4 years now and the last 5 months I have absolutely dreaded putting this out here publicly because now it officially makes it real. 😭 Breeding is TOUGH in general but then having a family and 3 young children definitely makes things even tougher. Not only did I want more time with my family and children but honestly like I stated earlier, breeding is hard! I know all y’all see is the good and cute pictures of puppies and dogs but there is soooo much that goes on behind the scenes. There’s death, struggles, p*e, p**p, tears, money flushed down the toilet, vet visits, and did I mention more p*e and p**p. On top of that showing Labradors is not for the faint of heart. Labradors are among the TOP most popular breed in America so you can only imagine how hard is in the show ring with a ton of gorgeous Labradors. It also doesn’t make it any easier if you get Judges who tend to look more towards professional handlers instead of owner handler (that being me). Yes the politics of showing can be rigged too.🙄 Aside from all of that, everyone and their momma thinks they can breed and add to the population of dogs and when really it’s truly not adding anything to the breed itself. Some are just wanting to breed for their family pet to be a mom, or for a certain color that’s not a true or standard Labrador color. Also don’t even get me started on the health testing and the body not being correct on the dog. So yes they say, “oh it’s a pure bred Labrador” but in reality it’s really not and it’s definitely not well bred. There’s a huge difference!
When I started breeding 4 years ago, I “thought” I was doing exactly what a good breeder does with health testing, temperament etc. but after more research and talking to other fellow Labrador breeders, I became more interested in digging deeper and wanting to start showing. I then came to find out that I was completely messing up my program and that’s when I did a full 180 to completely change my program and help make my program be the best I could make it. Every time I bred, I wanted to do better and get better each time and literally up until the end of this past year, I got my program exactly where I’ve always wanted it to be.
That’s another reason it is so upsetting that when I got exactly where I wanted to be and what I’ve always strived to be is a breeder, that’s when it felt like I was having to throw in the towel. 💔😢 My family is important to me and I didn’t want to waste another minute missing out on very important moments.
I have cried about this multiple times and I’m even writing this with tears in my eyes. Even with all I’ve been through over the last four years, I’ve had some very very good moments and have met so many wonderful people and for that I will always be grateful. All my puppies also have some of the best owners I could ever have wished for. Thank you all for the support and all the love over the last 4 years.
I know my breeding days aren’t fully completely over yet because I have a champion Norwich terrier who I knew from the beginning I would breed down the road but when it comes to Labradors I think my time is up.

I still plan on putting pictures up of past puppies that are growing up because a lot of times owners will send me pictures which make me smile. Thank you to all the people who have been with me from the beginning but also for the people who have joined along for the ride.

Much love - Chelsea (Glam-ma)

Enjoy some past pictures of cute baby puppies and some of my favorite memories 🐾
