Well, first batch of sourkraut is not good, too salty. Must have gotten the salt to cabbage ratio wrong. Trying again.

Here are some of the dried luffas. We've been giving them away just like the dried ones in the pictures. We let the people we give them to, harvest the seeds and peel off the husk to reveal the luffa inside. It never fails to impress. You also get tons of seeds to start your own and share with friends. The size of our luffas this year range from 10" to 16".

The luffas are coming along! We have harvested over 15 already. Some we've given away so others can experience the magic of luffas! The neighbors were really impressed and also want to grow some next year. I think the best way to give one to someone is when it is still in the dry husk with seeds. You want to remove the blossom end and shake as much of the seeds out as you can. Then crunch it up and wet down the skin and start peeling the skin. Give the luffa a good rinse out, and let dry. Then it's ready to use. Did you know that you can eat it when its green? They can be used to replaced scrubby sponges in your house to clean all sort so things, besides exfoliating your skin in the shower. You can also cut them up and pour soap into them for gifts.
