Work affirmations posted above my (day job) work station, back from when I was feeling severely depressed. I know depression is something I will live with and manage for the rest of my life, and it comes in seasonal waves. I am grateful to know what it is to feel “ok”, because it makes reflecting back on the hard times easier. It also helps me to prepare for the inevitable September droop that I’ll feel. Mental health is health, and it’s important to have your own back, and also have the back of those around you. Let this be a reminder to check in on your friends. Even if they seem okay, they may really value the act of someone reaching out to check on them. It could make a world of a difference. And thank you to those who know me well and check in on me during the hard times. You know who you are and I am eternally grateful for you.
