Andy has medium/high energy, and needs calm, confident handling to help him overcome his insecurities. We were thrilled 😊 to meet so many friends at our annual Canine Vaccine Clinic on Saturday at Coe Park in Torrington! A heartfelt thank you 🙏🙏🙏 to our incredible veterinary team, our dedicated volunteers, our hardworking staff, and Coe Park for making it possible to provide free exams and vaccinations for over 50 dogs. We also want to extend our gratitude to the pet owners who are committed to keeping their animals healthy and happy.

Programs like this are made possible by the generosity of our grantors and supporters. We are deeply thankful for their contributions, which enable us to offer this vital service to the pets in our community.

Cookie is an energetic, rambunctious boy. While he may get over excited at times, he responds well to correction and guidance and is truly eager to please and be a part of a family. He has high energy and loves to chase balls and toys. He does have some terrier attitude 😜 and sometimes wants to be his own boss but he will absolutely thrive in an active household with moderate to high levels of exercise. With proper guidance, Cookie will be a delightful addition to your family!

Sydney is a Little Guild alumni who was surrendered back to us after several years due to changes in the family dynamic. She is shy and hesitant at first, but extremely sweet and affectionate once her trust is earned. While she tends to favor women, she can and will warm up to men if handled patiently. This happy girl loves to shower you in the face with kisses so be prepared for that. She also loves a good cuddle and game of fetch with her stuffed toys. She came to us with an impressive foundation in obedience training and is able to perform a variety of commands reliably, including “sit”, “down”, and “place”. Sydney is ideal for an experienced dog owner who is ready to give her a second chance!

Clear The Shelters™ is an annual, nationwide pet adoption campaign that is led by NBCUniversal Local as a way to bring attention to local animal shelters and visibility to pets in need. ZUKO is available for adoption!!!💖 Zuko came to us as a stray who had gotten very used to roaming free. He has grown more and more accustomed to leash walking and some confinement, but he remains a true husky at heart. He loves to roam and explore and will require as much space, supervised roaming and fulfillment as possible. He can be very playful with his sister, Azula, with a very “rough and tumble” play style. He will generally shy away from initial contact and benefits from patient handling. THUMBELINA is available for adoption! Thumbelina came to us with her two small babies. She was such a good mom while she raised her babies. Now that they are grown she is finally ready to find her own family!
Another fun fact about Thumbelina is that she is polydactyl, which means she has a whole bunch of toes! (that's how we came up with her name!) Her favorite thing to do is watch out the window and to chirp at every bird and person that goes by. This curious girl is equal parts playful and cuddly!

Sydney has sooo much love to give! She barks at strangers initially but after just a couple minutes she wants to be your friend. Some of her favorite things are car rides, pup cups, stuffed toys, giving hugs, and cuddling on couches. Our Story

The Little Guild, founded in 1960 by Muriel Alvord Ward and Eleanora Kleinschmidt, is the only limited intake shelter in Northwest Connecticut. The current 3,000-square-foot facility accommodates 16 dogs and 25 cats comfortably at any time. ======================= First Half 2017 Animal Statistics: 1/1/2017 Animal Count: 34 Total Intakes: 149 Adoptions: 140 Transfers Out: 1 Deceased: 4 Total Outcomes: 145 6/30/2017 Animal Count: 38 First Half 2017 Live Release Rate: 141/145 = 97% ======================= The Little Guild gives every animal in our care the support they need to find a loving home. However, because we sometimes rescue animals in dire conditions, animals do pass away or are humanely euthanized in our care to end suffering.
