Introducing Aurora! This stunning beauty was welcomed into Rabbit Advocates in the Spring of 2024 when the Aurora Borealis lights dazzled the area. Aurora had a surprise for us as she gave birth to 6 babies all named after a galaxy theme.

Aurora has been in foster care working on trust and socializing as she was a bit skittish at first and she needed time to rest after raising her babies. She is now spayed and vaccinated for RHDV2 and ready to hop into her forever home. Aurora would do her best in a calm home; for now, she would prefer to be a solo bunny, but that could change with time. She does okay with respectful cats but has not met a dog that we know of.

Aurora is around 2 years old and weighs in at a dainty 5lbs. To learn more about dazzling Aurora hop over to www.rabbitadvocates.org to learn more. working on giving high fives.

Introducing Leo! This 4lb fluffmuffin is a mighty lion(head)! Leo came to Rabbit Advocates in the Fall of 2024 after being surrendered at a vet clinic. He has spent some time in foster care learning how to be a house rabbit and lording over his foster person’s cats. Leo lives with 3 cats and while he is willing to share his space with the household cats, he is the boss. Leo is the alpha in the family and tells the cats who is in charge.

Leo communicates by “grunting.” He grunts to let you know he is part of the family and wants to be included in activities. His grunting may be a little intimidating for young children. Leo would do best with bunny-savvy people.

Leo is very good about eating his pellets and hay; however, he is not too thrilled about greens. His favorite treat is a grape. He gets a grape twice per day with his pellets. He will sn**ch the grape out of his pellet bowl and run off with it--he does not want to share his grape! He eats his grape first and then goes back to his pellets.

Leo’s favorite toy is his tunnel. He spends time running through it and sometimes naps in it.

Leo is exceptionally clean and tidy - he has flawless litter habits and does not chew. HIs favorite place is to hang under the dining room table and chairs and survey his kingdom. As you can see from his fantastic mane, he will need regular brushing to keep him looking regal and tangle-free. Leo tolerates this very well and will sit calmly in your lap for his evening brushing.

Leo is estimated to be 4 years old and is in good health, neutered, and vaccinated for RHDV2. He is very sociable and would do well in a home with bunny savvy people, polite cats, and we think he would very much like a lady bun friend.

With 2025 right around the corner, this is your last chance to help make a difference for local rescued rabbits this year! You can make your year-end, tax-deductible donation before midnight at rabbitadvocates.org/donate.

As an organization that is 100% volunteer-run, all your donations go directly toward the rabbits in our care. It is thanks to our compassionate and generous donors, that we can care for foster rabbits like Olaf (pictured), transfer bunnies like Peter with a medical emergency, or surprise bun mom Aurora, who needed her Galaxy babies spayed, neutered, and cared for while waiting for their forever homes.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of local rabbits! 💜

We welcomed two cuties for Christmas, Popcorn and Rudy!

Beautiful Popcorn (white beauty with grey accents) was rescued by a good Samaritan in November. She was dumped on a busy street, which is no place for a bunny! Her rescuer was able to foster her until placement was found in Rabbit Advocates - we welcomed her just before Christmas so she could enjoy the holiday with her foster family. Estimated to be around 2 years old, Popcorn will enjoy her time in foster care while we complete her medical and then she will be available for adoption.

Rudy Twinkle Toes (tortoise/harlequin mini lop) had the misfortune of finding himself dumped in a park well known for having coyotes roaming about. Luck was on his side when a good Samaritan out for a walk scooped him up and brought him inside on Christmas Eve. Rudy Twinkle Toes is a youthful teen who enjoys running around and kicking his heels up. We are seeking a foster or foster to adopt placement for him - please DM us or visit our website to fill out a foster form. https://rabbitadvocates.org/new-fosters

Bunnies are considered "exotic pets" which is an important factor for pets.

Many apartments and rental homes do not allow exotic pets. It's important to check ahead to see if rabbits are allowed before getting one as a pet to avoid having to rehome them in the future.

Many vets only treat cats and dogs, and it's crucial to find a bunny-savvy vet. Find a vet who understands rabbit behavior and health issues. Rabbit Advocates has a list of Portland area vets who see rabbits on our website. Bunny-savvy vets are also more likely to offer the vaccine against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Type 2. https://rabbitadvocates.org/vets

One of the easiest ways to determine whether a rabbit is wild or domestic is by color. Wild rabbits in the Pacific Northwest are typically brown while domestic rabbits have more variety of coat colors and patterns. Domestic rabbits not only have an increased rate of predation due to their lack of survival instincts, but also because their more unique coloring is easier to spot by predators.

Domestic rabbits should never be dumped outside. But most importantly, thorough research should be done before getting a pet rabbit to understand the time and commitment needed.

Our generous matching donor says, "This year, I am supporting Rabbit Advocates in honor of all the volunteers who contribute to Rabbit Advocates' rescue and education work." Our donor's bunnies helped voice additional thoughts.

If we can raise $5K, we will be able to have a total of $10K with the matching donation funds!

Tomorrow is , but you can get a head start now!

Rabbit Advocates is 100% volunteer-run——which means money donated goes directly to the rabbits in our care. In this current need for donations, we are excited to announce that a compassionate friend of Rabbit Advocates has offered $5,000 in matching donation funds. That means for every dollar you give, they will give Rabbit Advocates an equal amount!

Please support our mission to help domesticated rabbits (like adorable, adoptable Olaf, pictured) in need.
