MEET HARLEY THE LOVE BUG!

Harley was surrendered when his owner lost his housing. The owner said Harley was twelve years old, but now that we've had him a few months, we think he may be a bit younger. He still has plenty of energy to go for walks and when he meets other dogs, he whimpers, gives play bows and clearly wants to romp. We think he would love to live with a doggie friend if the right one is out there. He gets a little too excited about cats, so a cat-free home would be best.

Honestly, we think Harley is going to be the world's easiest adoption for the right family. He greets strangers beautifully; he likes other dogs and is respectful with kids (although because of his size, older kids are a better bet). He's housebroken and only chews on his chew toys. He knows sit, paw, and down; he responds to his name and heeds correction. He likes to play for a bit or take a walk, and then settles happily down for a snooze. He's happiest being near you and LOVES pets and scritches. We have yet to find a bad habit in this sweet senior!

Sounds too perfect to be true? Harley is a big boy, and although he walks well on leash, he is 75 pounds, so like any large dog he will need someone who knows how to keep proper leash control. He gets excited about small, flickery things like laser cat toys or the shadows of birds flying overhead, but we've found ways to make that into game time for our boy.

🦮Senior Dog Safety🦮
PLEASE keep your senior and geriatric dogs on a leash at ALL TIMES ‼️ How they behaved when they were younger is not necessarily how they will behave in their older years. When they get older, their senses diminish. Dementia may set in and they will act and behave differently.
Please keep your dogs leashed at all times, especially the senior and geriatric dogs & especially at night. They are depending on you.
Please be proactive before it’s too late.

Meet Harley,
This oldie but goodie is available for adoption
from CT Animal House. Harley came into Animal Control when his owner could no longer care for him. He had a couple of lumps removed, and had a terrible skin infection when we took him in. Harley has been completely refurbished and he is ready to go! If you want a walking buddy that loves to socialize with everyone he meets, then Harley is your guy! Scout, the deaf/blind Mini Aussie puppy CT Animal House pulled from Animal Control, has been working very hard on his training and he is now ready to find a permanent family to love. He is a loving dog. Likes car adventures. His ideal home would have a person that works from home, has experience with herding breeds or special needs dogs. Has a yard with a fence, as he loves the outdoors!He likes kids, but we would like him to go to a home with older kids over 10. Scout’s foster Mom has done a fabulous job for Scout, but is having some health problems and we need to get him settled into a new home asap.

Meet Sissy!
Sissy is a 3-4 year old spayed mix of? Well…. a mix of absolute cuteness😀
She loves to sit on her foster Mom’s lap and cuddle while they watch T.V. Sissy can get sassy when the other dogs approach her foster Mom, but she just needs to be with someone that doesn’t let her get away with that and she is fine. She loves to run and play with her dog friends, and to go on walking adventures. She would be good with older kids. 🐶🐱CT Pounds are FULL‼️🐱🐶
So many of our Connecticut pounds are full or close to full capacity.
So many wonderful dogs of all sizes, ages and breeds. So many loving and wonderful dogs who deserve a couch where they can rest their head.
If you were looking to adopt a new family member, please check out your local pound.
It is not the official clear the shelters time of the year, but it is needed more now than ever.
Just remember adopting a new pet is a lifelong commitment.
You are bringing them into their forever home.

Maude has been completely refurbished and is now ready to find a family to love❤️
This oldie but goodie is around 9-10 yrs. and is the sweetest! Maude is currently fostering with a large and small dog. Her little tail began wagging like crazy at the Vet when she saw a young boy, so we think she could live with older respectful kids.Because she was probably an apartment dog, she would do best with someone that is home most of the day to let her out frequently. She is great in the car, and loves to cuddle. When CT Animal House pulled Maude from the shelter she was very thin and missing patches of fur😢 Thanks to lots of TLC by her foster Mom, a much needed spay, and a dental, she is feeling so much better! 💡Tuesday Tip💡
Many dogs go missing when they slip their collar.
Martingale collars are a great way to prevent a dog from slipping their collar.
Please make sure the collar fits properly. 1 finger should be able to fit between the collar and dogs skin, no more.
Only use a martingale when out for a walk on leash. Take it off when you get home.
Please keep your dogs safe! 🦮
