🇺🇸 This is our annual reminder that more pets go missing around July 4th than any other time of year. Fireworks and BBQs with lots of visitors are a recipe for dogs to get out the door and RUN. 🇺🇸

🧨 Make sure your pup has a safe space, away from the commotion. White noise can help!
💥 If your pet's fear is extreme, talk to your vet about options. Medications or supplements may help take the edge off and make your pup much more comfortable.
🧨 Make sure your pup is wearing ID (this should be a 24/7 thing BTW.) Microchips are awesome, but not everyone knows to check for them and they can delay your pet's trip home if vet offices are closed. Do you want to wait one more minute to be reunited? Didn't think so! Go old school. A collar + ID is your pet's quickest ticket home.
💥 Walk dogs earlier - fireworks really pick up as the sun goes down, so plan ahead to get them out for a spin before the sky booms start.
🧨 Do not force a dog to "get over" their fear by exposure. It will make it worse! Make them comfy and cozy. (And comforting a scared dog WILL not encourage the behavior. Cuddle that scared pup!)

May is National Pet Foster Care Month!

It is estimated that 950 cats and dogs are euthanized EVERY DAY across the country for lack of space. .

One of the best ways to directly help with the unnecessary euthanasia of pet cats and dogs is to get involved with your local shelter or rescue and foster!

What does it mean to foster? It means providing a safe space for a cat or dog while they wait for adoption. The rescue or shelter provides all medical care and often has food/litter donations as well.

Here are some rescues and shelters that could desperately use foster help:
