I have a split rein available for purchase. Length is 7 foot. It started out as a practice set. Was trying to get better at splicing 2 different lengths of ropes that finished off at the same length. It's way harder then you'd believe.
This rope is a golden tan color. It isn't the heavier rope I usually use. It is 1/2" double braid. The inner braided fibers of the rope I used will expand some with use which will add more weight and thickness. Works kinda like a cotton ball. (If that make sense), so rope will get firmer.
I spliced in connectors on one end, back spliced the other end, and then installed leather poppers.
NOTE: It takes 20 feet of rope to make a single 7 foot splits rein. (10) feet per side. You loose 3 feet per side when you splice and back splice each end.
The rein sat around for a while in a storage box unfinished. A year or so later, having nothing better to do, I finished off the rein with some braiding.
I added on the Pineapple buttons to the connectors, then started adding more buttons down the length of each side of the rein. 7 buttons to each end along the length. The count came up to 31 buttons in total when I finished up. I used the basketweave pattern on 15 of the buttons and a solid black braid in between the basketweave buttons.
One of the buttons holds both of the reins together and can be adjusted slightly for a little while. The inner braided fibers will expand with use so eventually that button will reach the point where it won't move anymore, thus it should be adjusted sooner rather then later.
Since I don't have room to keep everything I am offering this "one" rein for purchase.(this rope color is no longer available as it was just discontinued).
Since this rein was a practice, and is not as heavy as most of the reins I make, I am asking $35.00. Would normally be much higher with the amount of rope used, and amount of braid work.
Thank you.
