Greying with age in horses is caused by an intronic copy number variation in the Syntaxin 17 gene. Here the authors report that the G2 allele with two copies of the duplicated sequence causes slow greying whereas G3 with three copies causes fast greying and a high risk of melanoma.

We breed ponies of traditional type and focused on temperament, movement, and unique lines for the USA. Our ponies are from proven lines from the UK. We have hand selected our stock and make several trips to the UK each year to keep in touch with breed societies and learn from breeders with generations of knowledge of these beloved breeds. We have 1 UK registered, licensed imported Dales stallion, and 3 UK registered, licensed, and imported Highland stallions.
