Well, folks, it looks like our girl Jazz is back on the market way sooner than she (or we) ever thought. She barely had time to unpack her treats and toys before finding herself back on the single scene! Due to no fault of her own, Jazz’s “forever” didn’t quite work out as we had hoped. Turns out, not every love story is meant to be. 💔

But that means this petite little firecracker (20 lbs and 1.5 years old!) needs a foster, like, YESTERDAY! Jazz is used to living her best life in an active, multi-dog home with a fenced yard where she can romp, wrestle, and run until she’s all tuckered out. She even has experience co-existing with dog-savvy cats (no biggie for her!) and would be a good match for households with dog-savvy kiddos who respect her space.

So, if you’ve got a cozy spot in your home—and a big place in your heart—to help Jazz settle back into rescue life and get her paws back on the road to “forever,” we’d love to hear from you. Let’s make some social media magic happen for this sweet gal!

Oh, Rocky. Just another adorable, young 8-month-old puppy with a heartwarming (and slightly heartbreaking) rescue story. Who could possibly resist? Apparently, quite a few, because our 35 lb. buddy Rocky is still waiting for his forever family. 🥺

He’s not asking for much—just someone willing to continue his journey from stray pup to treasured family member. After all, he’s had quite the rough start: found on a busy road, barely old enough to walk straight, with only his siblings, and no mama in sight. Cue the heartstrings, right? 💔

Thanks to a wonderful vet tech with a soft spot for stray puppies (and maybe a bit of a superhero complex 🦸‍♀️), Rocky and his littermates have been safe and sound for the past few months. In his southern foster home, he’s been working on some crucial life skills, like where to potty (outdoors, please!) This guy’s all set to leave his days of survival behind and focus on the good life ahead.

But there’s just one tiny thing: he’ll need a bit more help with this “leash walking” thing. Rocky spends his days in a backyard puppy playground, wrestling with his littermates, so his “on-leash etiquette” is, well, a work in progress. We think a fenced yard would be ideal while he works on those skills—but hey, we’re open-minded for the perfect match. 👍

He’s hoping to land with a family who’s ready for the silly antics of a young dog and maybe even some other playful pups and/or dog-savvy kiddos who can keep up with his puppy energy. But don’t let his endless playfulness fool you—he’s got the brains to pick up whatever you throw his way, as long as there’s some treats involved, of course. 💪

If you’re ready to welcome this sweet boy into your home starting Friday, November 8, Rocky’s bags are packed and he’s ready to become your new sidekick! 🙌

Meet Grizzly!

This 1.5-year-old marshmallow was let go by his former family because…wait for it…he didn’t make a good guard dog. He’s so friendly he’d probably help a burglar move in instead. 🤣 At a whopping 114 lbs, he’s all bark, no bite—and by “bark,” we mean soft snores as he dozes through yet another episode of your favorite show.

As the saying goes, one person’s loss is another person’s gain. Whoever is lucky enough to adopt this gentle giant is going to feel like they won the lottery! 🙌

Since we haven’t known Grizzly for that long, he hasn’t had a lot of time to meet other pups, kitties, or little humans yet. He’s been fairly indifferent when seeing other dogs when out and about with his southern foster mom, but he hasn’t had the opportunity for any direct interactions. His track record with cats is equally light—though he did say a polite hello to the vet’s office kitty once (we’ll call that “experience”?). Kids over 10 might be his speed due to his size, but, like everything else, TBD! 🤷‍♀️

Apartment dwellers, we admire your optimism, but a 114 lb teddy bear might be a hard sell with even the most understanding landlords. So, Grizzly’s got his sights set on a house where he can live his best lazy life. 🏠

He’s only 48 hours away from making his big move to Massachusetts, and he’s hoping to find a home—whether that’s a foster or, fingers crossed, a forever family—waiting to give Grizzly all the couch space (and love) he deserves starting Friday, November 8. 🗓️ Think you’re up for this big, loveable challenge? Let us know by applying to foster or adopt him right on our website: browndogcoalition.com 💻

➡️ Due to overwhelming response, we aren’t accepting any more applications for Andy at this time. His adoption counselor will be in touch as soon as she can for those who’ve already applied.

One of the great perks of adopting from a foster-based rescue like ours is that we really get to know these pups in real-time and see who they truly are. And now that 5 year old Andy has settled into his local Massachusetts foster home, we’re ✨thrilled✨ to share what we’ve recently learned about this 45 lb dood.

👉 Andy’s vibe? Sweet, cuddly, and zero drama. Even when his new canine foster sibling was giving him the cold shoulder, Andy didn’t mind one bit and just claimed his spot on the couch for family movie night.

👉 His former family told us he needs at least 90 minutes of exercise a day, but spoiler alert—he’s kind of a lazy boy! One nice long walk a day, and he’s ready to stretch out and relax.

👉 We also were under the impression Andy had A LOT to say about, well, everything. Turns out he’s a low-key barker (unlike some other unnamed dogs we know) but he’ll chime in if there’s a truck or door slam worth noting.

👉 House-training is almost there! He’s had a couple of accidents, but Andy prefers doing his business on walks, who knew?! Now that his foster fam knows his routine, he’s doing way better!

Based on his personality, Andy is a great match for medium to active households with or without other dogs. He would still love a home with a fenced-in yard if you have one, but we feel much more confident now saying this isn’t a strict requirement. 🙌 Dog-savvy kiddos are a ‘yes!’ for Andy’s future home, if you have ‘em. We still are unsure about his feline feelings, though.

If your home sounds like a great match for Andy, take the first step to welcoming him into your life by filling out the adoption app on our website! 🔗 browndogcoalition.com/adoption

🚨 URGENT: Bo Needs a New Foster Home! We Only Have Days Left! 🚨

As a foster-based rescue, we’re up the proverbial creek without a paddle when we aren’t able to secure new temporary digs for one of our adoptable dogs, like Bo. And if this happens for this 1.5 year old, 35 lb. fella, we’re looking at two far from ideal options:

1️⃣ Boarding: Bo would be confined to a small kennel with no access to the comforts of a home—no couch snuggles, no walks, no toys, and none of his favorite snacks. Boarding will not only be detrimental on his emotional health, but it also comes with a hefty price tag for our rescue. 💸

2️⃣ Returning South: Bo would face a long, stressful trip back to our southern partners, where foster homes are even scarcer and outcomes are uncertain. After spending the last few months up here in Massachusetts, this move would turn his whole world upside down again. 🥺

This young cattle dog mix isn’t a fit for every dog-friendly home, but maybe he’s a fit for yours! 🙏 Here’s who he needs:

➡️ A low-foot-traffic home with no young kids (dog-savvy teens or older, please!) — apartments are OK as long as you have a separate entrance
➡️ A confident, playful dog buddy
➡️ A flexible schedule that allows him some outdoor time and mental engagement throughout the day

Bo has a heart of gold and would do anything for his circle of trusted humans....it just takes a while for him to let new people in. But he’s fantastic on leash and loves his daily walks! He has some “stranger danger” indoors and can be quick to nip when he feels overwhelmed—so we’re asking for a foster with patience and understanding. His new foster will get support from one of our certified positive reinforcement trainers (free of charge!) so that Bo can learn new skills and help him process these feelings without jumping to using his teeth.

Can you or someone you know be the foster hero Bo desperately needs? 🤞 Please fill out our foster form on our website immediately if you can foster, or tag a friend who might be able to!

After spending the first few years of her life with a breeder, Sadie Mae is a sweet 16 lb. lady who didn’t always get the TLC she truly deserves. 🥺 But those days are behind her now! She recently arrived in Massachusetts, and has been discovering that she can be cherished as family—not a money-maker. 🧡

At just 2-3 years old (give or take), Sadie Mae is learning all about her new world. While she might be a little shy, there’s a loving girl under that cautious exterior, just waiting for someone who will take it slow and help her feel safe. 🫶

A solo dog life might be best for this sweet pup, but we suspect she’d also thrive with a laid-back canine sibling who can handle her quirky ways. Oh, and cats? No problem! She’s passed the feline roommate test with flying colors. 👍 Now when it comes to little humans…we are recommending households with older, dog-savvy kids since she hasn’t had much exposure yet and we don’t know if their loud, quick movements will make her nervous.

She’s being fostered in a dog-friendly apartment setting, and her foster says she’s done well in this brand new type of environment —just as long as your neighbors wouldn’t mind the occasional alert bark as Sadie Mae gets used to her new surroundings! 🏠

If you’re looking for a pup who’ll appreciate every single bit of love and care you have to offer, Sadie Mae just might be your girl. Head to our website to find our adoption app and give her the life she’s been patiently waiting for! 👉 browndogcoalition.com/adoption

These baby dogs are between 6-8 months old and they have all been busy working on their essential life skills in their southern foster homes. Like all young whippersnappers, they will need a little more fine-tuning and support from their future families as they grow into excellent family companions. 🫶

Thanks to the in-depth info we get from our incredible fosters, we know these puppies are all perfect for families with other playful pups and/or dog-savvy kiddos. And if you’re wondering about cats, Scooby and Spice have got that covered—they’ve been perfect housemates with feline friends! 👍

Surprise adoption alert...on a TUESDAY?!

We’re usually all about those here at BDC, but today, we’re mixing it up! Thanks to an extra transport from our southern partners (who’ve been working around the clock to save more pups), 4 lucky pups wagged their way to forever homes yesterday, joining the 7 pups who found their happily-ever-after since our last adoption update. That’s right, 11 dogs found families to call their own in just two weeks! 🙌

And we’re not slowing down—our adoption team and local fosters are already hustling to get the 15 pups fostered right here in Massachusetts into their forever homes. That means applications are being read, phone calls are being made, and meetings are being scheduled. Oh, and did we mention that we have another 18 dogs starting their journey north in just one week?! 🤪

We’ll leave the math to you, but let’s just say that’s a LOT of incredible dogs looking for love. 🐾 Head to browndogcoalition.com/adoptable to meet them all. Your new best friend is just a click away!

Meet Willa! This 6-month-old Maltese puppy came to us after experiencing several seizures, and her previous family realized she needed more medical care than they could provide. ❤️‍🩹

Our vet has since diagnosed her with a liver shunt, and Willa’s heading into surgery on Thursday morning at Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital. It’s a big procedure, with an even bigger price tag—over $5,500 😳—but we’re committed to giving this precious girl every chance at a long, happy, pain-free life. Thanks to our friends at Waggy Tails Dog Grooming who volunteered their time today, Willa just got a fresh groom so she can go into surgery feeling like her best self. 🤩

If you’re able to spare even a few dollars to help with her surgery costs, we, and sweet Willa, would be so grateful. As an 100% volunteer-run rescue, donations never go towards paying staff or overhead costs—only the animals in our care. 🐾

She won’t be available for adoption until she’s fully recovered, but we’ll keep everyone updated on her progress. Please join us in sending Willa all your love and good vibes for a smooth and speedy recovery!

Georgia is a 5-year-old, 55-lb. bundle of goodness who stole her family’s hearts when they adopted her from a local Massachusetts shelter a few years ago. Back then, she was a shelter staff favorite—the kind of girl you meet once and can’t forget! 🥰

But now, life has thrown a twist with a new little human in the home. Georgia has told her family loud and clear that a child-free, quiet life is her happy place. This is a tough ask, but Georgia’s family reached out to us in hopes of finding her perfect match. 🤞

This girl may not want to be BFFs with every dog she meets and she needs a gentle, quiet, child-free environment to help her feel truly safe—but that doesn’t mean she isn’t amazing or deserving. Her family has done everything to help her bloom, from finding peaceful walking routes to boosting her confidence with lots of positive reinforcement training. They’ve gone above and beyond, and their hearts are breaking to have to let her go, but they know it would be selfish to keep her in an environment where she is unhappy. 💔

Although she’s not officially part of our rescue, we’re hoping that by giving her the spotlight, she can find the peaceful forever home of her dreams. And here’s where you come in, loyal social fans! Please share this post and help us spread the word. 📲 We believe her perfect family is out there, and they’ll be lucky to have a dog as special as Georgia.

Interested in making Georgia part of your world? Fill out an adoption application on our website, and we’ll pass it along to her current family for the next steps! 🔗 browndogcoalition.com/adoption

Guess who’s finally made it to Massachusetts! You might recognize this 4-year-old, 50 lb pup because Gyro was supposed to be on an earlier transport this month coming up from Alabama, but he generously gave up his spot for another pup in need. Well, good things come to those who wait, and we couldn’t be more excited for him! 🎉

Gyro has been catching up on all the love he’s missed out on in the past, thanks to his amazing southern foster who made sure he got plenty of TLC while they were temporarily hosting him. This guy is the perfect partner for a family with other pups (he adored his foster doggy sibling) but would be just as happy being the only apple of your eye! 🐾

Now, about those feline friends...He finds them very interesting but can be easily redirected, so dog-savvy kitties with their own space would be best. And kiddos? Gyro would make an amazing buddy for little humans too! 🙌

We hear that Gyro is a bit of a couch potato at heart, but he’s always game for a walk around the neighborhood or going for a joyride. 🚗 So if you’re looking for a lovable, medium-large companion who’s equal parts couch cuddler and adventure buddy, Gyro’s your guy!

He will be getting settled into his local foster starting tomorrow (Monday) and while they’re happy to host this sweetheart as long as needed, we’re hoping it’ll just be a short stay. 🤞 If Gyro sounds like the dog you’ve been searching for, head to browndogcoalition.com/adoption. Let’s make his dreams of finding a forever home come true!

26/10/2024

Adoptable Andy popping back up in your feed to remind everyone he’s still on the hunt for a forever home! 👋

He does ✨need✨ a fenced-in yard, although we don’t normally require this! Unfortunately, this 5 year old pup hasn’t had any experiences with leashed walks and until he’s comfortable with that, we want to ensure he has a safe place to do his business and stretch his legs.

Andy will complete his mandatory quarantine period on Monday and we would love to see him head home with an adopter that day. He’s already been through so many transitions—can you help us make this one his last?? 🙏

Once again, another doodle has landed with our southern team—so to those who claim they “can’t adopt because they want a doodle”...clearly, you’re just not looking hard enough! 😜 Seriously though, these fluffy friends are waiting in shelters and rescues across the country. But we digress...

Now, before anyone asks, let’s settle this once and for all: there is no such thing as hypoallergenic dogs. 🙅‍♀️ Yep, we said it! While some dogs are more allergy-friendly, it’s all about the individual dog and what you’re allergic to—whether it’s fur, saliva, or the allergens they track in. Our pal Andy here? He’s a floofy 51 lbs and in need of regular grooming, which can help manage allergens, but hypoallergenic he is not.

Speaking of Andy, let’s chat more about him! 🙋‍♂️ He’s about 5 years old and he’s looking for a home with a fenced yard. And no, we don’t have a blanket fence policy, but Andy is currently very leash-shy, so he needs a safe space to run free and be able to do his business until he learns that walks aren’t scary. Don’t have a fence? No worries—check out our other 20+ adoptables!

Like most doodles, Andy is active dude who will need a family who can keep up with him. He’s going to need a little help learning the finer things in life, like enjoying long, sniffy walks in the woods. And that playtime doesn’t happen 24/7. With time, training, and some tasty treats, he’ll be on his way success! 🎓 He’s also quite the talker, so if you’re looking for a quiet companion, Andy’s not your guy.

He loves other playful pups, would do well with dog-savvy kiddos used to rambunctious pups, but feline friends are a mystery. Oh, and the crate? Nope, not his jam. So if crating is a must in your household, you might want to keep scrolling.

Andy will be arriving in Massachusetts on our next transport and we’re looking to pre-approve his future fam so they can scoop him up in Dartmouth on Monday, October 28. Think that might be you? Find out when you submit our adoption app on our website!

26/10/2024

🚨 Bo needs YOUR help! 🚨

We’re not here to sugarcoat it—our boy Bo needs a unicorn of a foster (or better yet, an adopter!) This sweet 1.5 year old, 35 lb. cattle dog mix has had more changes in his short life than most of us go through in years, and, well… it’s been a lot for him to handle! 🥺

Bo adores other dogs and could spend hours wrestling with his canine pals, but he’s a bit more skeptical of humans until he’s sure you’re part of his inner circle. When he gets nervous, he tends to speak up (with his teeth!), so we’re looking for a low-traffic home where he won’t have to navigate crowds of strangers and put into situations he’s not ready to handle. 🏠

Here’s the checklist for our ideal foster or adopter:
✔️ A playful pup buddy who can keep up with his antics.
✔️ Patience and understanding of dog body language — Bo needs someone who knows when he wants space.
✔️ No young kids—teens are a maybe if they’re dog-savvy!
✔️ Willing to work with one of our positive reinforcement trainers so Bo can get the support he needs.
✔️ A fenced in yard is preferred but not a strict requirement as long as you’re willing to find safe places for Bo to get the zoomies out.
✔️ A home where someone is home more often than not—due to all the changes Bo has been through he has some ✨feelings✨ about being left home alone.

Bo’s current foster fam absolutely adores him, but they’ve got a busy November ahead and it’s breaking their hearts they can’t keep fostering him. 💔

This pup deserves a home that understands his quirks, honors his boundaries, and is 100% ready to watch him shine. Can you give this special guy the safe, cozy landing he deserves? 🫶

Fosters should be a reasonable driving distance to Hopkinton, MA and adopters can live within a 3 hour radius of our home base.

We know what you’re thinking, “Two weeks isn’t that long…” and sure, on paper, it’s not a lifetime, but adoptable Yuji’s over here every other pup from his transport stroll off into the sunset with their new fam. 🥺 We promised this 30-lb snuggle bug he wouldn’t be waiting ‘round forever!

Yuji’s the total package: on the smaller side, sharp as a tack, and fueled by snacks! He’s nearly a year old, so the growing’s mostly done, but beware—if you’re a sucker for puppy eyes, that treat jar’s gonna empty fast. 🍪

Think he’s just a cute face? This guy’s got brains to match! He’s a future dog training class valedictorian! Got agility dreams? Maybe just a hiker’s heart? Yuji’s your partner in crime for whatever you throw his way. 💪 And once he’s worked those zoomies out, he’s all about snuggle sessions and power naps on the couch.

Now, full disclosure: he’s got enough enthusiasm to power a small city, so a home with playful dogs and older, dog-savvy kids would be ideal...younger kids or low-key dogs might find Yuji’s excitement level a tad “extra”. 🤪 And while he’s been trying to be polite to the resident cat in his foster home, let’s just say feline friends should be prepared for a bit of constant “Hey! Wanna play?!” energy. What we’re trying to say is dog-savvy cats only, please!

Fenced yard? Perfect. No fence? Not a dealbreaker—just know you’ll be spending lots of free time keeping his little guy’s brain and body exercised! 🐾 If your home sounds like Yuji’s dream come true, sprint over to browndogcoalition.com/adoption and get that app in! He’s hanging out in Leominster, ready for his happily-ever-after, and we’re ready to make it happen. 🙌

Drum roll, please... Bonnie’s DNA results are IN! 🧬

Believe it or not, adoptable Bonnie has 18 (!!!) different breeds in her makeup! 🤯

This 3 year old, 35 lb. bundle of joy is…

23% American Pit Bull Terrier
12% Australian Cattle Dog
6% Boxer
5% Bulldog
4% Poodle
3% Yorkshire Terrier
3% Chihuahua
3% American Cocker Spaniel

2% Siberian Husky
2% Rottweiler
2% American Eskimo Dog
2% Staffordshire Bull Terrier
2% Labrador
2% Treeing Walking Coonhound
1% German Shepherd

We had soooo many awesome guesses from you, loyal followers, but even our vets and adoption counselors didn’t come close to accurately identifying these breeds. Swipe to see just a few of the guesses y’all shared with us! ➡️

And here at BDC, we’re all about the pup’s personality and unique traits—not just what their cute faces might hint at. We ✨always✨ want to set all our adopters and pups up for long-term success so we do our best to match our dogs based on who they are as individuals and what type of home environment they’re going to thrive in—not just based on what their breed makeup may or may not include.

PS don’t forget that Bonnie is looking for a home to call her own! Her DNA results will be transferred over to her new fam, free of charge. 😉

Our latest transport of adoptable pups is officially on the road and headed to Massachusetts! 🚐 Our adoptions team can’t wait to meet them on Monday, October 28 after they complete their state-required quarantine.

But here’s the deal: we still need a few more fosters to help our sweet seniors—and Andy, our big, goofy 5 year old doodle. These pups have traveled far, and after several days on the road and a stint in isolation, they’re dreaming of cozy beds and loving homes—even if just for a little while. So if you’ve got a little space and a lot of love to give, we’d love for you to host one of our amazing adoptables.

Upcoming plans in the coming weeks? That’s OK, we can 100% work around whatever plans you already have on the books! ✈️ Our pups (and us!) will be forever grateful to know they all have a cozy place to go on Monday and we wont be force to leave anyone behind to be stuck in isolation even longer. 🫶

We are baffled, flabbergasted, and downright confused that the stunning Nyla is STILL waiting for her forever home. 🤔 Like, is everyone just snoozing through her profile?! 💤 Because this girl is a total gem, and our entire adoptions team is OBSESSED with her!

Sure, she’s a little shy at first. But once you meet her one-on-one, you’ll get why she’s THE dog everyone falls in love with. She’s 1.5 years old, which means you get all the perks of a pup without the late-night potty breaks, mystery growth spurts, or the occasional chewed-up sneaker. 🙌 At 53 lbs, she’s just the right size, unless you spoil her with treats—and honestly, who wouldn’t? Those puppy eyes are dangerous! 😉

Nyla is agile but not hyper, the perfect medium-energy companion. She loves her brisk walks and occasional sniff-fests, and she’s an absolute pro at leash walking! 🐾 Plus, she’s an A+ cuddler and would be the ideal work-from-home buddy with her quiet, observant personality.

Her one non-negotiable? No cats! They are her sworn enemies, and she’s not about to call a truce. 🙅‍♀️ But other dogs and/or kiddos? Yes, please! 🙋‍♀️

Nyla’s chilling in one of our local foster homes right here in Massachusetts, so what’s the hold-up? Click that apply button on our website NOW and make your life instantly better when you bring Nyla into it! 💻 browndogcoalition.com/adoption

Axel’s retirement plans hit a bit of a speed bump, and now he’s on the hunt for a forever home with plenty of belly rubs, cozy naps, and some love to spare.

After 10 years with his former family, this 22 lb. senior came into our care after his family had to move and couldn’t find dog-friendly housing. 🥺 Although we already have several seniors looking for homes, we couldn’t bear the thought of this sweet old man landing in an overcrowded shelter where most people walk past the older pups, so we scooped him up and welcomed him to the Brown Dog family.

After soaking up all the love and attention in his southern foster home over the last few weeks, Axel is officially Massachusetts-bound and crossing his paws that a new family is ready to swoop in and give him the retirement life he deserves. 🤞

When we asked his foster to tell us a bit more about Axel, they shared: 💬 “Axel is relaxed and lazy and loves to cuddle. He is very friendly, but unsure at first with new people. Once he sniffs you and he realizes you aren’t the bogey man, he will want to be your best friend. Good with kids of ages. Prefers to nap all day. Known to snore.” Based on his personality, he would do best in a home without any other dogs—or one with other pups who aren’t looking for a new playful canine sibling. Naps > playtime!

Axel’s been through enough transitions—let’s make sure the next one is his last! This distinguished gentleman will be ready for adoption on Monday, October 28. Apply to adopt him right on our website: browndogcoalition.com/adoption
