Foxy 🐾❤️🐾

Foxy is goofy, playful, affectionate, and absolutely adorable! She loves spending time with people and dogs alike. (We don't know her history with cats.) She recently had puppies and now that they're "grown and flown," she's ready for a forever home of her own. No more motherhood for this gal, she's ready to be the star of the show and soak up all the love from her new family.

Foxy is a little over a year old, and just shy of 60 pounds. We aren't certain of her breed mix but as you can see, there's definitely German Shepherd in there! Possibly a herding breed, too? Whatever she is, Foxy sure is cute!

Today, we have 204 dogs and 178 cats at our shelter, putting us far beyond capacity. 💔 With no open kennels, we are currently housing 12 dogs in our barn.

Although so many of you opened your hearts and came out to adopt on Wednesday when we asked for your help and 58 cats and 31 dogs found homes that day, we still ended the day beyond capacity. How is that possible? Many pets who were adopted were sharing kennels, and many new pets entered the shelter.

We still urgently need your help to save lives! ➡️ Adoption fees are waived for dogs and cats today, Saturday, Nov. 4th. Included in your pet's adoption is their spay/neuter surgery, up-to-date vaccinations, a microchip, and a 1-year license for Sacramento County residents. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Rd in Sacramento and our animal shelter is open from 12-5pm today.

We can't think of a better way to close out Pit Bull Awareness Month than by spreading the word about Mia! This lovely, lilac, 6-year-old pittie gal is still patiently waiting for her fur-ever family. Luckily, she's enjoying herself in our San Quentin Pen Pals program in the meantime! Her handler, an inmate in the prison firehouse, lives and trains with Mia every day. Here's what he had to say about Mia:

"Mia is a great companion and friend. Be sure to make time for cuddling and be ready for wet kisses! Mia will make a great indoor dog to hang out with and watch movies.

Mia is working on her fetch manners, so right now, make sure you have two balls when playing fetch with Mia. She has the energy of a much younger dog. But Mia knows what she can and can't play with and does not touch anything that is not hers. Mia is extremely intelligent and will do anything for treats!

She plays with other dogs but prefers her human companions. She is very strong and athletic and could become an agility dog. She would not do great with cats and will chase all the birds out of your yard. Mia deserves a great home! I will miss her."

Thunder heard we were talking about how cute he is! And it's true, we do talk about it a lot - because he is SO cute!

Adorable and personable Thunder was found stray and we're shocked that no family came looking for him because he's a treat! So now he's ready to go to a real home. We think he's about 2 years old. Thunder has never met a person he doesn't like, and he will follow you just about anywhere. Dogs are okay, too - small ones are better - but it's all about the people, please!

Thunder is also a treat hound and is happy to work for small bits. Small Dog 1 would be a great first stop for his new family if they want to offer Thunder some engagement and life skills.

Meet Georgie 🐾🌺🐾

Aloha, Georgie! Georgie has an insatiable lust for life that's fun and contagious! We think he's a 2-year-old English Pointer mix and he has a lot of classic pointer qualities, like his boundless energy and eager attitude.

Georgie came to us from Maui after the disastrous fires. He was already in the shelter looking for a forever home when the fires started, so we brought him to Marin in order to give Maui Humane more space for lost and found animals.

Now he's looking for a home here in Marin! Georgie would love to join an active family. 5 mile hikes? No problem! Going for a run alongside your bike? You bet! Fetch, agility, and Nosework in the same day? Georgie says yes, please!

Georgie is a friendly fellow who loves meeting new people and is excited to meet new dog pals. We've been teaching Georgie lots of skills during his stay with us, including learning to ignore dogs when he's on leash, calling away from other dogs when he's in a fenced yard, walking politely on leash, waiting at doors, and so much more. He still needs to learn some basic manners, so sturdy or older children are recommended.

This darling girl is now at risk of euthanasia. The shelter states she is “not doing well” at the shelter. Really? Does ANY dog do well at a shelter?

Honey Buns has until September 28 (next Thursday) to be adopted. She is absolutely darling and has come out of her shell so much.

If you’re interested in Honey Buns, PLEASE go down and meet her in person before it’s too late.

HELP NEEDED!!

Hello Friends,

With sadness and heartbreak, we come to you today to inform you that despite our efforts of reaching out a raising awareness to our urgent dog population situation. We are forced to have an "AT RISK" group of dogs.

Our dog intake continues to soar and we have completely run out of kennel space. This has been the harsh reality we've faced over the last two years and our pleads for help may sound like a broken record. We are committed to being transparent with all of you so that if youfind yourself in a situation to open your home to a shelter dog, now may be the time. Or if you want to join us in networking these dogs to rescues and adopters.

Each of these dogs need our help and a place out of the shelter. Some are showing signs of kennel stress/ deterioration and are not thriving in the shelter environment. Despite the amazing care the animals receive from staff and volunteers, some animals just can't sustain in the kennel environment. These dogs are companions, family members, furbabies.... they are happiest in our homes on our couches or sleeping at our feet or in our beds..etc.. The shelter is no place for these pets long term. Please help us raise awareness to these dogs a join us in trying to save their lives.

We are actionable about reaching out to rescues, previous foster homes, finders and anyone connected to each of these dogs to try and find a postive solution.

Most all of these dogs came to us as strays and sadly where never reclaimed. If you know these dog or if you know who they belong to please reach out to us! We are not above tracking down previous guardians and knocking on doors trying to find a positive solutions for these lost dogs.

We intend to leave no stone unturned, however, we need people to adopt and rescue!

If you can't adopt or rescue one of these dogs, please consider one of our many other pets. We have so many to choose from!

Our at risk dogs are available to rescue organizatons or adopters through 6:00 pm 09/12/23. Please note if our capacity improves we will make every attempt to extend their time in efforts to find a positive outcome.

Our adoption center is open from 12-6 Monday-Friday; 12-5 Saturday and Sunday.

Update we need to keep Pewee in boarding another 10 days, our goal just got higher....

Wanted to thank everyone single one of you who donated and shared. We have fought hard for Peewee to find a good life, now we are getting closer with your generosity 🐾❤🙏 bless you all

Alright guys, here is what's going on.....I did a thing yesterday!😝 I pulled my very first dog, Mr. Peewee from the shelter!! Yay Peewee!🎉🎉 This was literally a last minute save, we almost lost this handsome young boy, he had only hours left! 💛🐾

But now this lucky survivor and I need your help! When I heard his story, I just couldn't say no! He is only 2 years old, was failed twice now by us humans and....I just had to save him! This boy spent a long time at the shelter before and was adopted last minute a few weeks ago. Happy Ending we thought but....last week, PeeWee was found wandering the streets😭😡! And back to the shelter he went! Just this time Peewee was told he couldn't stay long, he only had a few days and if nobody came looking for him, that was goning to be the end for him yesterday💔. So I got him out last night to save his young life🎉💛 but with no foster offer, I had to put him in boarding. The last picture is him last night in his own private suite at a boarding facility, getting his first peaceful nights sleep in God knows how long. Problem is that this suite is only available until Thursday and PeeWee doesn't do well in a regular kennel, he is barrier reactive and gets very stressed. Besides kennel life is not a good solution for a young active boy like him, he is so full of life, loves people and does well with other dogs also once outside a kennel, loves running and playing ball and just wants to finally start his life.

So....we couldn't find a foster, can't keep him in boarding, But! We did receive an amazing offer from Tino Sanchez with Peace Love & Pitbulls!🎉💛💛🐾🐾🎉 peaceloveandpitbulls. He offered to take PeeWee in, foster and train him and find him a forever home when ready! 🙏😄 This is an incredible opportunity and he will only charge us $1000! We are so grateful and excited for PeeWee but need your help and donations to make this happen! We also will need to take him to a vet before he can go join Tino and his pack, to make sure he has a clean bill of health. So between his boarding costs now and his vetbill and the board/foster and train, we need to raise about $1300. We have already received $400 in pledges so only need about $900 more. so if you could please help out Peewee and his fresh start in life, honor your existing pledges or donate, any amount helps.🙏🙏🙏 you can go to my website and the Donate button will pop right up

Clear the Shelters Month! Meet Tigger, another boy who has been with us far too long. Although he is fortunate to be in a foster home, we still need to find him a permanent place to call his home.
