Weather pending for grooms this Tuesday. If the weather is accurate and roads are bad tuesday morning i will be rescheduling
❄ Current National Weather Service lower peninsula snowfall forecast through 7 AM Wednesday (1/10/24). Timing of snowfall onset is still a bit tricky even less than 48 hrs out, but the late Monday to pre-sunrise hours on Tuesday could see several inches fall across the state. The combo of fresh snow and temps at/below freezing will likely equal a tricky commute on Tuesday morning.
Depending upon the final placement of the low-pressure and associated fronts, the rain-snow line remains on track to stay northwest of a Grand Rapids->Midland line. Highest accumulations should fall in those areas, which may see a Winter Storm Watch issued today if models continue to remain at 6+inches.
The southern portions of the lower peninsula, including Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Metro Detroit, will likely see snow Tuesday morning before converting to a rain/snow mix as warmer air rides into the state. The potential for a dry slot to shut off precip on Tuesday afternoon also exists. Colder air will eventually move back in on Tuesday evening along with additional moisture, leading to a transition back to all snow. As a result, the Wednesday morning commute could also become a bit dicey in Metro Detroit.
All in all, the Metro Detroit area may only end up with a bit of snow on the ground by late Wednesday due to melting by Tuesday rain or rain/snow mix. Due to the longer duration of precip, there's an outside chance that a Winter Weather Advisory may not be issued for a few Metro Detroit counties. Still a bit too early to say for certain on that one.
