Joey says, we haz some new dogs here. (Rescue Dad would say, so what else is new? Another day, another dog. Or cat. Or Both. But Rescue Dad always drops everything to welcome the newbies.)
Anyway, Rescue Mama says they are 9 years old and elderly but they’re almost half my age! Hmph. Elderly, schmelderly!
They are sisters and Mama says they look like Yorkshire terrier mixes, like Haven. Good thing, because Rescue Dad really likes Yorkies.
They came from a shelter, like I did except it was a much better place with much nicer people who work hard to find good places for animals who end up there. Mama said that lots of people helped to make it possible to rescue Ally and Lola. But she says they are really sick and she is taking them both to the emergency hospital now, to get a referral to a cardiologist because their hearts don’t work so well. Probably because the people who had them let them get Heartworms. 😡. Mama says I cannot repeat what she would like to do to those people and she hopes they never ever have another pet.
That’s Ally in the lavender sweater and Lola in the pink one. I wear clothes too so I think they look pretty nice.
I hope the Dogters can make them feel better. The Dogters have helped me a lot and Mama says I am like a spring chicken since the Dogter gave me some new pain medicine!
Mama says it’s going to be a long night.
Ear scritches are the best!
Joey had a coconut oil skin treatment tonight followed by a change of wardrobe. These t-shirts are the best. First time he’s worn this one.
He’s not exactly wearing prison stripes but you could say he’s a “prisoner of love”! 💜🐕 💜🐾💜
At the veterinarian waiting for Joey’s first cold laser therapy treatment. Hopefully it will help his arthritis. We are very grateful to Stacy Rotondo, her
TT's Animal Foundation and donor @John Grady for making this possible for Joey.
Joey’s skin needs special attention since he has almost no hair and that means less natural protection. He’s also quite cold natured. So he is almost always wearing a T-shirt or sweater and has developed quite the wardrobe!
Every 2 to 3 days he gets a skin treatment, alternating between a mousse that cleans and conditions and an application of fractionated coconut oil. He also takes fish oil with his food.
Here he is tonight after a mousse treatment, wearing one of his new T-shirts. So handsome!
Joey: You haz Cheetos.
Me: yes but they are not good for dogs.
Joey: and they’re good for humans??
Me: 🤦♀️
Joey: I like cheese. I think I would like Cheetos.
Me: Joey you had 5 teeth pulled two days ago. You’re only supposed to be eating soft food and these are crunchy Cheetos.
Joey: I am sure I like Cheetos.
Me: gives in to the pitiful whining to give him one tiny piece. Now going to cut up some real cheese for him. He’s been here less than a month and already has me well trained. 🤷♀️
