We are happy to announce our first adoption of 2025!🎉
🐾Gus is a senior pug boy who has the energy of a pug half his age. As you can see by all of the smiles, he is very excited to join his new parents and pug brother Charlie (who was also adopted from our rescue 5 years ago!)
Congratulations to all!❤

🐾 Understanding the 3/3/3 Rule for Adopting (or Fostering!) a Rescue Dog 🐾
Are you planning to or did you just adopt one of our rescue pugs? Here's a helpful guide to help navigate the acclimation process:
📅 First 3 Days: Your new dog might feel overwhelmed and nervous. They may not eat, drink, or act like themselves as they adjust to their new environment.
📅 First 3 Weeks: They'll start to settle in, feeling more comfortable and beginning to understand your routine. You'll start to see their true personality emerge!
📅 First 3 Months: By this time, your dog will feel at home and fully adjusted to their new life with you. You'll have built a strong bond and understanding with each other.
💙 Patience, love, and consistency are key. Remember, every dog is unique and may need more or less time to adjust.
Today is the perfect excuse to let your furry friends strut their stuff in style!
But of course, every day can be National Dress Up Your Pet Day as there are many reasons why your pet might need to wear clothing (besides just to show off their inner fashionista).
❄ To keep warm: It’s winter time, and depending on where you live or visit, that could mean rain, snow, blizzards, and freezing temperatures – and winter clothing can help your pet weather it all. You can even find special dog boots that are designed to protect your pup’s paws from ice melt/snow salt.
🌞 To keep their cool: Dogs with thinning fur or bald spots may need to wear a shirt outside during warm weather to serve as sun protection. All-weather dog boots can also keep paws from getting burned on hot pavement.
🌊 To keep safe: When swimming at the pool, lake, or beach, a dog life jacket can help your pup stay afloat.
So whether your pup is dressing up for fun or to be practical, share your pet’s stylish look in the comments or tag us in your posts. Whether it's a dapper bowtie, a cozy sweater, or a full-on costume, we’d love to see your pets dressed to impress. 📸
P.S. If you don’t have a furry fashionista yet, check out our adoptable pugs. https://pugrescueflga.com/current-dogs
Maybe your next best friend is waiting to celebrate the next dress-up day with you! 💙

🚨 Meet Ned: A Brave Boy in Need of Your Help! 🚨*
🐾 When he was just 2 years old, Ned suffered a broken leg that required elbow surgery. Unfortunately, the surgery wasn’t successful, leaving his front right leg at an odd angle and completely unusable. He recently came into rescue and after his intake exam, the vet determined that for Ned to live pain-free and thrive, he needed his leg amputated. Ned recently had his surgery and he’s already living his best tripod life! He doesn’t miss his leg at all and is zipping around like a champ.
Ned's leg amputation and neuter totaled almost $4000. Your donations will help with the cost of Ned’s surgery and medical care; every dollar makes a difference for this special little guy. ➡ https://pugrescueflga.com/donate
💙 Thank you for supporting Ned and all the pugs in our care!

🐾 In December, we participated in the First Annual Meowy Christmas Rescue Gala hosted by McNeely Farmily Rescue and Sanctuary and Delanie's Lemonade Stand.
At the event, we won 2nd place in the Christmas tree decorating contest ($300 prize) AND we were just given a check for $1500.00 from generous donors at the event! A HUGE thank you to everyone who attended and supported this event and your incredible generosity!
💙 This $1800.00 total donation will go directly toward providing medical care, food, and love to the pugs in our care.
🍋 Delanie, your lemonade stand is a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a BIG difference. Thank you for being such an inspiration!
🏠 To the McNeely Farmily, we are so grateful for your kindness and commitment to rescue. Together, we’re changing lives—one tail at a time.

🐾 January is National Train Your Dog Month! 🐾
Training your dog isn’t just about learning tricks—it’s about building trust, strengthening your bond, and ensuring your pup feels safe and confident in their world.. Whether it’s mastering basic commands like *sit* and *stay*, or tackling more advanced behaviors, every step forward helps create a happier home for both you and your pup!
💙 For rescue dogs, training can be life-changing. Many of them have faced challenges and need guidance to thrive in their new homes. Adopting a rescue dog? Start slow, be patient, and celebrate their progress—it’s worth it!
Here are some tips to kick off training:
📖 Learn your dog’s unique personality and energy level.
🦴 Use positive reinforcement with treats, praise, and toys.
⏱️ Keep sessions short and fun!
🏆 Celebrate small victories—they add up!

🐾 So You Want To Adopt A Pug....
With all of our recent intakes, we have A LOT of pugs looking for forever homes so If you’re considering adopting, we encourage you to go ahead and complete an adoption application.
💕At PRFG, we don't operate on a "first come, first served" basis. Instead, we take a personalized approach to every adoption. So while you can view bios of available pugs on our website, we do not list all of our pugs online. Before we post a pug's bio, we carefully review all pre-approved applications to see if we can find a match. So getting your application in now for review and processing means that if you are approved, you will be ready to go when the right pug comes along!
** If you applied to adopt within the last year and paused your application but are now ready to proceed, please contact us: [email protected] **
💙 Our Adoption Application process is pretty straightforward and helps us ensure the best fit for both you and our pugs.
1. SUBMIT - Adoption Application and pay a $20 non-refundable application donation.
2. SEND VET RECORDS - Email at least 3 years of vet records for all pets in your home in the last 3 years (alive or deceased). We will NOT move forward with your application until these are received.
4. PHONE INTERVIEW – A volunteer will contact you to discuss your application in detail.
5. HOME VISIT – A volunteer will visit you and your family and any pets in the home.
6. MAKING A MATCH – Our team carefully reviews each application, considers the unique needs of each pug, and makes thoughtful decisions to ensure the best match possible. This way, every pug finds their perfect forever home, and you find a loving companion who's just right for you.
💙 In 2024, you helped make a difference by opening your hearts and homes to 144 amazing pugs and pug mixes. Each name filling this house represents a life transformed; each has their own story of rescue, love, and new beginnings.
It's a beautiful reminder of the difference your support makes!
🐾 As we step into the first week of 2025, we have 38 pugs in foster care and 25 of them are looking for their forever families.
Let’s make 2025 just as impactful as 2024! Together, we can continue to bring hope and love to pugs in need, finding them the homes they deserve.

💙 Become a Lifesaver: Foster a Senior or Long Term Care Pug!
🐾 As everyone has probably heard, we have been overwhelmed with intakes over the past couple of weeks. There doesn't seem to be any relief in sight and we currently have 6 pugs still waiting for intake.
🏠 Our most urgent need is foster families who will open their home to a senior pug and/or long term care pug. As a foster, you'll provide them with a safe, loving environment while we cover their expenses and support you every step of the way.
Senior dogs, much like senior humans, have so much to offer in terms of companionship, loyalty, and wisdom. They are incredibly grateful for the love and care they receive, and have a way of enriching our lives in ways we never thought possible. By opening your home, you’re not just giving a pug a second chance—you’re giving them a reason to keep wagging their tail.
🐶 Interested? Fill out our foster application today and help us give these sweet seniors and long term care pugs the second chance they deserve.
🐾 Is there anything better than cozying up with a furry friend on a chilly day?
January typically has some of the coldest days of the year, so what better way to stay warm on National Cuddle Up Day?
Looking for the ultimate cuddle buddy? Meet our adoptable pugs—they’re waiting for a forever family to share their lap (and maybe their bed)! And trust us, they love giving as much love as they get. 💙
💙 The support of our donors, fosters, volunteers, and adopters made it possible to rescue 28% more pugs in 2024 than in 2023.
🚗 Thousands of transport miles - too many to count!
✈ 3 flights with Pilots 'n Paws
🐶 5 pugs treated for Heartworms
Every foster pug received 6 months of heartworm prevention that went with them when adopted.
🏠 All adopted pugs will have received full veterinary care: vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm/urine/fecal tests, bloodwork, treatment for known illnesses/injuries, dental cleaning/extractions
🏥 We worked with more than 40 different Vet Clinics/Emergency Vets/Specialists
Multiple consultations, procedures & surgeries with University of Georgia and University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals
❤️🩹 Some major surgeries included: orthopedic, pyometra, mass removal, bladder stones, cataracts, entropion, eye enucleation and more...
Every number represents a life saved, a tail wagged, and a story rewritten. . You’ve helped us transform challenges into victories and given so many pugs a brighter future.
As we celebrate our 22nd year of rescue in 2025, we’re excited to continue our mission of love, hope, and rescue. Here’s to another year of making a difference, one pug at a time. 💙

🐾 Holiday Rescue Rush: 17 Intakes in 7 Days
While many of us were hoping for a quiet holiday break, our team at PRFG had anything but that. Between December 20th and December 31st, we were contacted about 17 pugs in need of rescue.
💙 True to our mission, we couldn’t turn our backs on them. Thanks to our incredible volunteers and fosters, we quickly sprang into action and were able to bring 15 pugs into PRFG’s care. For the remaining two, we partnered with our friends at Georgia Peach Pug Rescue, ensuring every pug found a safe place to land.
These pugs range in age from 5 months to 16 years, and their medical needs are just as diverse: spay/neuter surgeries, dentals, and more severe cases like a leg amputation and mammary tumors.
Rescue is a team effort, and we’re so grateful for the help from Georgia Peach Pug and for the dedication of our volunteers, fosters, and supporters. These 17 pugs wouldn’t have had a chance without you.
🐾 Please consider donating, adopting, or becoming a foster to support our mission! Together, we can give these pugs the happy futures they deserve.
** If you applied to adopt within the last year and paused your application but are now ready to proceed, please contact us: [email protected] **
Stay tuned as we introduce these pugs and share their journeys. Subscribe to our emails to be notified when new adoptable pugs are posted: www.pugrescueflga.com

🎉 Happy Tails: 2024 Adoptions Recap 🎉
📅 As we look back on 2024, we're celebrating the pugs and pug mixes who found their forever homes each month. While we shared many adoption stories throughout the year, we wanted to make sure we celebrated every one —especially those we didn’t get to spotlight earlier.
🐾 To close out the year, 11 fosters found their forever home in December.
That makes a total of 138 pugs who got a second chance at happiness. 🥰
💙 A huge THANK YOU to all our adopters, fosters and supporters for making this possible. We couldn't do this lifesaving work without each and every one of you.
Want to help us create more happy endings?
Apply to adopt or consider fostering – your love can change a life!
Whether you're hitting the road, flying high or taking to the water, keeping your furry friends safe and comfy is a must. From harnesses to travel crates to life vests, let's make every journey paws-itively safe!
💡Travel Safety Tips:
- Always secure your pet with a crash-tested harness, carrier, or crate. Free-roaming pets can be distracting and unsafe.
- Never let your dog ride in the front seat or stick their head out the window. It may look fun, but it’s dangerous!
- Use a sturdy, airline-approved carrier with good ventilation.
- Attach your pet’s ID and a photo of them to the carrier in case of separation.
- Invest in a pet life jacket, even if your dog is a strong swimmer.
- Keep your pet leashed or in a secure area to avoid accidental overboard adventures.
- Bring fresh water and have a shaded spot to protect your pet from overheating.
- Pack your pet’s food, medications, and ID tags for all trips. Make sure they’re microchipped and the info is up-to-date.

Captain Jack
✨ FRIDAY FOSTER UPDATE ✨
🐾 Captain Jack has been with us for 6 weeks, is fully vetted and ready for his forever home! He is a special boy who needs a special adopter and we hope that is one of you!💕
After visiting multiple vets and an eye specialist, we have discovered that he was born with a few defects:
- Anophthalmia: This is a very rare congenital condition in which a dog is born without one or both of its eyes. Captain Jack does not have an ocular globe in his left eye so therefore he is blind.
- His right eye has retinal degeneration and optic nerve atrophy which means that he will eventually lose all sight in that eye as well.
🐶 Despite his visual challenges, Captain Jack has adapted very well in his foster home. He is a quick learner and has already mapped out his foster home and yard. He enjoys exploring his fenced in backyard but also walks very well on a leash and enjoys his daily walks.
🎥 Watch the video of him navigating the yard with his foster siblings!
🏡 We don't know exactly what Captain Jack has endured in his young life but we know he deserves a second chance and if you have a soft spot for a special boy like him, he will reward you with endless affection and companionship.
