Meet 2 Sweet KuneKune Girls – Pumpkin & Sunshine

With heavy hearts, they are looking for a kind and loving forever home for two beautiful KuneKune girls. They are about 14 months old.

Pumpkin, the lovely brown piggie, and Sunshine, a charming black-and-white girl, are truly special. They adore exploring the paddocks alongside dogs and get along wonderfully with chickens, sheep, and, of course, their canine friends. Their gentle nature and affectionate personalities bring so much joy to everyone who meets them.

They love nothing more than tummy tickles—once you start, they’ll blissfully flop over and soak in all the love you can give. On hot days, they delight in a refreshing shower or a good mud bath. And if you call their names while shaking their nut bucket, they’ll come running to you with their sweet, eager faces.

Unfortunately, due to an unexpected family illness and the challenges of our property’s grass no longer growing well, we are unable to provide them with the care they truly deserve. This decision is incredibly difficult, but we know they will bring happiness and love to a new family who can give them the best life possible.

If you have the space, time, and heart to welcome these two wonderful souls into your home, please reach out. They are such special girls, and we want nothing more than to see them cherished and adored.

FLOSSY 💜

It's been a pretty busy week here not only have we been finding the best homes for colony caged hens to go into tomorrow but we've also been FINALLY doing some of the long to do list on Flossy.

We've had her paint in storage for the better part of almost 3 year now and we've finally done it. She's had 2 coats so far with a 3rd being likely.

You won't be able to miss us on the road with her stunning colours.

We still have alot of cosmetic stuff we would like to complete but it will happen in good time. For now Flossys loaded and ready to get colony caged hens into FREEDOM FOR FEBRUARY.

With not 1 but 2 hen rescues coming up and slowly working through applications we thought it was only fitting to thank The Gear Box Factory.. 🐔

The Gearbox Factory have helped us in many ways they've placed many orders through one of our business sponsors which helps us in more ways then one.

BUT they've also donated an AMAZING chicken house to set up another foster area in Auckland for when we have emergencies and since collecting it, it's helped a few gorgeous hens who really deserved TLC.

We are always greatful to everyone and any company who helps us as wether small or large because it all benefits the animals HUGELY.

Thank you to The Gearbox Factory the animals and us are forever greatful 💜

The BIGGEST thank you to The Water Hog Ltd. for not only delivering a load of water so late in the day but for also donating a load to ensure the animals have constant fresh water on these never ending hot days.

WE NEED RAIN

As summer progresses we have had next to no rain in over a month with super hot days the animals are skulling down the water which we have been as well!

However if we don't have rain in the next few days which is not on the forecast for anytime soon 😭 we are having to get a load of water in for the animal tank.

In many many years we have NEVER been so low in the animal tanks as we are now! we collect from every shelter roof, we have back up IBC tanks which are now empty, the plastic drums water storage is also empty.

**Posting on behalf of another animal Sanctuary.

URGENT TRANSPORT needed for 2 lovely pigs Pete and Penny 🐖

They are based just outside of Ohakune, Ruapehu & their new forever home for them is south of Waiouru.

Unfortunately hiring transport hasn't worked out due to the nearest available hire place being over 1.5 hours drive.

Penny & Pete need to go to their new home by the 14th January latest as their sanctuary is now officially closed.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas.

We hope you've all had a wonderful day filled with family and making memories.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our volunteers for helping us save as many hens as we possibly could this year and not leaving a hen behind, our adopters without you homes wouldn't be possible. The small companies who have supported us with donations in many forms to help us keep our gates open for another year. And the rescues we work alongside with thank you for teaming with us.

And to the animals we save may you have enjoyed your first Christmas as a free, loving family member and the ones we are yet to save 💜

We've been pretty slow on the social media front the past few weeks, and normally we try to post daily for our supporters to see what we've been doing and the animals we've been helping.

But we have been that busy and constantly travelling that posts have been the last thing on the list. BUT there's been alot going on behind the scenes.

In the space of 7 weeks we have completed 5 LARGE hen rescues. We've rescued & rehomed almost 2000 hens. These hens came out of colony caged farms and barn farms.

Weve rehabbed alot of hens who wouldn't have had the same outcome had we not given them the chance.

We are tired but having the holiday period upon us means we get to stay off the road and recover for a few weeks atleast.

But It's all been worth it to see hens like the one below flourish in their forever homes.

A little snippet of one of the many daily chores we do around here... multiple containers of sprouts for the animals all at different stages.
