FLEAS! Is the topic for today
So, who keeps their pets on flea prevention year around?
If you don't, then you should know you should be. These nasty little bugs can lay dormant for a very long time until a food source comes by and they pick up on the vibrations. So, a new house or apartment could have them hanging out just waiting to feed on your furry friend. This is true for even a vehicle.

Many people keep flea prevention on their dogs, but what about your cats? Are your cats on prevention? They should be, and that is even if they don't go outside. If you have a dog, then the dog could bring them in. Other people you have come in contact with. If they have an infestation at home, they could bring them in around for you to bring home.

Who wants to learn more about why your pets should be on preventions year around? Or ask any questions. I am ready with some answers!

Hello all, I hope everyone is having a lovely day.
So, how do you know if a dog is overweight? What should you be doing to make sure they do not get overweight.
Some quick tips:
1. You should always be able to easily feel their ribs. But not be able to see them.
2. They should have a tuck where their abdomen starts right past the ribs.
3. Don't free feed. ( Leave food out all the time) They should have a measured out amount twice daily. ( Look at your food label for details or ask your vet.)
4. Feed your dog the kind of food that matches up with age and activity level.
5. Feed healthy treats. ( Some examples are: apples that are cut up, they should not have the seeds or core. Carrots, bananas, dried banana chips, green beans. )
6. If feeding other dog treats, take into consideration the additional calories you are giving with the treats. Do this, especially if your dog is overweight already.
7. Make sure your dog is getting plenty of exercise. Physically and mentally.

So, I have a question for you guys.

Favorite command to teach a dog and what I see as one of the most important.
"Leave It!"
Can be used in many scenarios. Quick and easy to teach. Also, it can be used in the right tone of voice if something is dangerous.
Not a word that a dog hears all over the place and has become something they have learned to ignore.
No matter the situation saying the command, (Leave It!) Always means stop what you're doing, no matter what that "thing" is that your pup is doing.

My path to a new heart has started.Many of you may know I have CHF. And I may have mentioned down the road I would need a heart pump and transplant. Well that time has come

Surgery to get my heart pump is either the 12 or 13th. Way sooner than I thought. ( My story, which is in the link below.) Expenses are increasing daily and my friend did a gofundme page and told me to share every where. So here it is. And help would be appreciated and prayers would be the biggest gift you could give me.
