A couple of new faces to introduce, newly arrived from outback NSW and settling into foster care.
Black and white Kelpie X, Joe, about 7 months old.
Black and Tan Kelpie lad, Daryl ( aka Dazza), 1 year old, who found that working life wasn't the career for him.
Both of these beautiful boys are dog friendly, in foster care on the NSW Central Coast, and will be up for adoption soon

We are so excited to have the beautiful team at Kare Kanine coming on board and helping us with some extra walks for some of the foster dogs in care.
Exposing them to different surroundings, different handlers and helping out our volunteer foster carers with any additional work needed. Opening up our understanding even further on the dogs we have available for adoption.

By default he is ungodly handsome, and Arthur is just as sweet as he is handsome.
Living a full life even with a double ailment he requires someone a little understanding to make him thrive in life.
He will require a home with another dog, one that is patient and understanding and social and can be a little bit like a guide for him as he grows and develops.

Arthur isn't aware that he is deaf and blind, so life for him is as normal as it gets. Being pure white he will need to be inside a little more and well shaded. And would do well with someone with previous experience on dogs like him however someone willing to learn with him is just as good!

He's best suited to stable footed kids over the age of 7 as he doesn't quite know his limits yet and does crash and bounce around a little bit. He is learning his toilet training and is successfully holding all night in his soft pen with no fussing or issues. And he travels wonderfully in the car sleeping the entire trip.

He is still learning to map the house and right now his foster family have kept his training very simple. Just doing a lot of touch and scent work to build up his basics. We are expecting him to be a solid boy so a home comfortable with a medium to large dog is best suited.
His vets have been happy with his health, and have said he should live a full life with no issues and at this current stage he doesn't require removal of any eye fragments.
Arthur is located in the Lower Hunter valley and is currently 8-9 weeks old. He is ready to start his journey to meet someone special and hopes he doesn't have to wait too long.

Our handsome senior boy Riley is now officially up for adoption
Riley is a senior chap who still has lots of life to live and love to give. He is a very happy and healthy little man, with no known health concerns. Mr Riley would love to be the centre of attention as a sole pet but has been in foster care in a multi-pet home. Riley knows basic commands and is toilet trained. Riley was previously owned by an older lady who unfortunately passed away. Riley loves trips in the car, short strolls, and sitting on the lounge of an evening getting pats and cuddles.

Applications for our little precious gem Neva are now opened.
Born into care alongside her sister Alba (who has been pre adopted already) on the way into foster care. These girls had a swift start into the arms of Tiki.
With a doting mum, Neva has flourished and grown into a beautiful sweet natured and social girl. Small in size, currently 8 weeks old and only just sitting on 1kg. We expect she will be 3/4kg when fully grown; so homes looking for a smaller companion are best suited.

Neva has been exposed to many things in her 8 weeks of life. A quality diet, interactions with all types of dogs of differing ages, needs and sizes and endless love. She has already shown to be a smart girl, puppy pad training herself and showing great recall and understanding of staying close by her foster carers.
She could easily adjust to a variety of different homes, be it as a very much loved only dog, sharing a home with other dogs or other animals.
Being such a small girl, we won't be looking for a home with kids under the age of 5 years.
She will need to be allowed inside at night and we will have high preference on homes that are able to have her as a mainly inside dog due to her current and expected small adult size.
We are open to all sorts of homes whether it's rural based, apartments or suburban. We just ask that fencing is secure and safe, free from small gaps she may slip under.

Neva has been raised with the best, shows fantastic social skills when meeting new animals and people and is well handled.
She does have a grade 1 heart murmur that will be checked upon her 2nd vaccination (10 weeks of age) however the vets do believe that she will grow out of this by the time she is 6 months of age.
Neva is currently 1kg in size and expected to be less than 5kg in adult size. She is a fox terrier x
Nevas adoption fee is 650 and she is ready to start meeting her perfect match. She is located in the lower hunter valley NSW and at this stage we will only be accepting NSW and ACT applications.

It's a huge August for the Tiki promotions team, starting with Top Dog Film Festival at Kotara Events cinema Wednesday 21 August. Tiki team members will be in the foyer to spread the word about rescue, and how to help.
Then Dog Lovers Show Sydney on the weekend, 24-25 August.
And finally Top Dog Film Festival at the lovely Avoca Beach Theatre, Central Coast, on Saturday 31 August.
Harold is excited to be attending the Sydney and Avoca events, and visited his mate Todd at Morisset Dog Grooming to get his trade mark blue mohawk, with a touch of purple this time.

The lovely Lilly came bounding into care just over 3 months ago but unfortunately it was soon evident she’d done herself an injury and required an ACL repair. She is now as good as new and ready to love on her new family. Lilly is such a pretty girl, her photos really don’t do her justice and she has a very loving nature, she loves nothing more than a cuddle and will happily sit on your lap like the 30kg baby she thinks she is.

She’s a bit bouncy and excitable at meal times and when she first sees you when you come home but soon calms down and she is working hard to control her excitement around food. She gets on well with both small and larger dogs but she does like to chase birds so no feathered friends or pocket pets would be recommended for our Lilly.

She’s not met any cats at this stage so is untested currently and while she is good with children, due to her bouncy nature, older dog savvy children would be more suited to her. Lilly loves to go out for walks but she is currently a little strong on the lead as she hasn’t had much practice, and is improving each time she is taken out, it won’t be long before she’s perfect. Lilly is crate trained to perfection, due to her long recovery post surgery and is also super well behaved in the yard, happy to be by herself or with other dog company.
She is a fantastic security dog without being a nuisance barker and is not destructive at all. If you don’t mind a lotta loving and want a super loyal gal to keep you company Lilly is the girl you’re looking for

Lilly is located in the Raymond terrace area and is roughly 3 years old. She is ready to meet her new family now and hopes she doesn't have to wait too long!

Shane has an important announcement:
After 873 days in foster care, HE IS ADOPTED.
The day after his big road trip to outback NSW to help us pick up new dogs into care, we had a second, secret road trip with Shane to his new home to start his adoption trial.
And today it's official. We - and many of Shane's friends and admirers - will miss him, but he is where he should be. With a family who loves him, without having to share them with
a dozen or so other dogs and the constant churn of a foster care household.
Here he is at his new home. Please wish him well..

Introducing the cutest kid on the block - Sadie!
This 3 month old wolfhound x female is as cute as a button and is ready to meet her forever family. This little girl arrived to us from a remote rural area and has settled into foster care beautifully. She shares a home with 3 large dogs, all of which she adores. She’s an affectionate puppy with her foster family, always up for some cuddles and to jump on your lap.
This little girl won’t be a lap dog for long however! Currently 12kgs, this girl is likely to be a larger adult around 40kgs or so. She is looking for a family who allows her inside to sleep by her family. She is fully crate trained and sleeps in her crate perfectly. Her crate is in her carers bedroom, so she’s close to them but still has her own space.
Sadie has proven to be the perfect house guest while her foster carers are at work, she snoozes with the other dogs during the day or sniffs around the yard. She loves to play fetch and will retrieve a ball or toy one after the other. Sadie will suit a family with kids over 5. She could be an only dog in the home or suit a family with an existing dog.
Sadie has only just had her first vaccination so she is eagerly waiting until she can have her second and then be able to enter the big wide world and start exploring! Her new family will get to experience all the firsts with Sadie; her first outing, her first walks, her first obedience class, her first puppy play dates, her first trip to the beach or park.
If you're someone who thinks you can slowly introduce Sadie to all these new things, enrol her in group classes and introduce her to lots of fun canine companions, then this is the girl to apply for!

beautiful companion for one lucky family.

An important part of foster care is building confidence, both inside the home and out in the world, to get them ready for adoption. Here are 3 of the Tiki foster dogs - Glen, Suzie Q and Indi - out with local dog walking service K9 Walkers to get them used to the outside world and improve their on-lead skills.

I got these 3 munchkins out to stretch their legs today when we finally had a break in the rain.

All 3 are in foster care with Tiki Animal Rescue. We saw another 3 dogs being walked and while there was curiosity for the other dogs, it was amazing to see there was no negative reaction from these 3.

We have a special little introduction to the Tiki family today.
This boy has been kept a secret for the last week whilst he completed his impound time under duty of care with one of the founding houses.
By close of business yesterday, sweet Arthur officially became a Tiki member.

You might notice something a little different when you look at photos of Arthur.
This little fella was born with no working eyes and is also deaf; another product of the double Merle gene.
He has gone into care with one of our founding houses who specialises in special needs and medical dogs. Joining an already existing crew with a range of special needs and learning the ropes of how to cope with a double ailment.

This boy has shown to be intelligent, interactive, adventurous and rambunctious. Learning to navigate the inside and outside of his foster home, adapt to meeting lots of different personalities of dogs and trusting his foster carers to teach him how to communicate effectively.

Our vet team have already agreed that Arthur is of good health and nature. And we hope in the near future, a committed home will be dedicated to providing this boy a fantastic home. But for now; he is safe and sound and has just awoken from a big sleep.

So please welcome Arthur to the journey of safety.
