Cats In Distress Rescue, rehabilitation & rehoming cats & kittens in need, (and often helping people as well). This is the public page for Cats In Distress.

It is primarily used to alert people to cats & kittens that might have gone missing, have been found or are in need of assistance. Our other page, Friends of Cats In Distress, is a private group for anyone interested in finding out more about our work. Our private group allows us to share more information about often sensitive stories, we also highlight the cats & kittens available for ad

option. Previous adopters can privately share their photos and stories with other supporters of the charity; a feel good page with lots of heartwarming stories. Cats In Distress was established in May 2016 after a chat over a few glasses (or bottles) of wine. After several attempts at volunteering with several national charities, a number of us were very disillusioned; no matter what their public image, most large charities seem to be corporate, political entities who seem to have lost touch with their founders aims. Cats In Distress was born. We are run entirely by a team of volunteers, the rescue centre provides 7 spacious pens and an isolation pen, in addition we have 27 foster homes, who provide home to home care, for everything from newborn kittens to our golden oldies. All animals admitted are assessed and health checked, any treatments that are needed are carried out prior to adoption. All cats & kittens adopted from us are neutered, microchipped, FULLY vaccinated and have 5 weeks free insurance. We provide vouchers for neutering, help with vets fees, provide long term fostering in emergency situations, admit vet referrals and trap, neuter & relocate ferals, life is never dull. Cats come into us for a multitude of reasons. We will never judge, we don’t know what’s going on in peoples lives, but if they reach out to us, we will always try our best to help. Compassion for animals and people is and always will be at the heart of what we do. We don’t judge, we don’t know what problems they’re facing; eviction, death, financial difficulties, when calling us, by and large they all have one thing in common, they want the best for an animal. We pride ourselves on responding quickly and efficiently to enquiries. We aim to respond to general enquiries within 48 hours, or normally a lot quicker, enquiries for rehoming are often answered within 6 hours. Visits to meet our cats can be arranged within 24 hours, with a subsequent home check carried out within 48 hours. From an initial enquiry to rehoming it can take as little as a weekend for a cat to be successfully rehomed. That’s not to say we rush things, we just believe in getting things done. We are a small charity, rehoming over 300 cats & kittens a year. We are passionate about all cats and work long hours providing help where & when its needed.

MINI IS STILL MISSING
His family won’t give up and neither will we.
We need sightings. We urge everyone to remain diligent and let us know if you have noticed a stray cat in the area. Or perhaps your neighbour / friend acquired a new black neutered cat since June of this year.

Please help Mini come home in time for Xmas.

After spending nearly 8 hours trying to coax her down, she was retrieved by Tim, tree surgeon from 28 Trees. Said cat is now catching up on her sleep and was starving hungry when she got home. She is now grounded. But safe. Her owner is extremely grateful to everyone for their support and all help provided.

Stay safe little lady. We’re so happy to hear you are now safe😻

🎉🎉🎉Thank you. 🎉🎉🎉
🎉🎉🎉 We raised a grand total of £3700🎉🎉🎉

Thank you to all our friends and supporters who turned out to show their support to us on Saturday.

There are just too many people to thank, individually.

But thank you to;

🌟Those who donated so many quality items for our raffle & tombola. 🌟
🌟Everyone who gave up their time, before, during and after the fair.🌟
🌟But mostly, a huge thank you to all those who came along on Saturday. 🌟

Without all you lovely people turning up and spending your hard earned cash, all the hardwork would have been for nothing. As well as seeing so many regular visitors, it was wonderful to see so many new faces.

So many people expressed that the love and goodwill that was felt was amazing.

That was down to each and every one of YOU.
We love you all, see you all again next year.

Some great news on a Friday.

Thanks to Cooper & Tanner Sale Rooms at Standerwick. They've jumped in and not only given us a couple of prizes for our raffle, but also offered to cover the cost of hiring the venue, meaning every penny we raise tomorrow goes to helping our cats. Thank you. 🙏

Providing sanctuary for EVERY cat.

The trustees and volunteers are dedicated to working to relieve the suffering of cats & kittens by providing them with, protection, rehabilitation & treatment. We rescue, care for & rehome all cats & kittens, whether domestic, mis-treated or abandoned. Each cat is assessed and treated according to its individual needs. Our foster homes provide a safe sanctuary of love, security & patience whilst we find them their forever home.

Feral cats or those cats which won’t do well in a normal domestic situation are neutered and if needed relocated to a more suitable location.

We believe there is the right home for every cat, but every cat is not the same. Each cat & each home is assessed to find the right match.

The charity actively promotes responsible pet ownership, by neutering, micro chipping & vaccinating all cats that are put up for adoption. If you’re looking to adopt a cat please visit our website www.cats-in-distress.org or email us at [email protected]
