PLEASE NOTE: WE AREN'T THE SHELTER OR A RESCUE. We introduce the animals in our local shelter to the public, encourage ADOPTION, network with rescues & identify resources. This page is NOT run by the shelter - it's managed by local animal advocates whose objective is to expose the animals at our County shelter to as many individuals and rescues as possible in hopes of finding them good homes or re

scue. Friends of the Harnett County Animal Shelter is NOT a rescue. MANY OF OUR ANIMALS POSTED HAVE VERY LITTLE TIME, SO IT'S CRITICAL to act quickly if you see an animal you're interested in. If you have specific questions about an animal, please call the shelter at (910) 814-2952. Be aware that they will not hold an animal or process an adoption via telephone. The shelter staff does a great job at keeping their website current with the status of available and adopted animals. New animals are added nearly every business day. http://harnett.org/ac/

While this is NOT a gassing shelter, it is very small and therefore animals can be held for only a minimal amount of time, usually no longer than one week. Please be honest and constructive with your posts. Please see our "Notes" about pledges, about fostering and about monetary gifts for further elaboration. Copying the posts on this page to promote the animals on other sites is encouraged. However please include that you are functioning as a cross poster and are NOT owner/manager/admin of this site. Our Story

We are NOT the shelter and are NOT a rescue. We are animal advocates who try to introduce the animals at our County shelter to as many individuals and rescues as possible in hopes of finding them good homes or rescue. Secondarily, we invite cordial discussion of animal-related issues in Harnett County. Many of these animals have VERY LITTLE TIME, so IT'S CRITICAL TO ACT QUICKLY if you see an animal you're interested in. If you have specific questions about an animal, please call the shelter at (910) 814-2952. The shelter staff does a great job at keeping their website current with the status of available and adopted animals. New animals are added nearly every business day. http://harnett.org/ac/ While this is NOT a gassing or heart-sticking shelter, it is not a no-kill shelter. The facility is very small and therefore animals can be held for only a minimal amount of time. Please be honest and constructive with your posts. Please see our "Notes" about pledges, about fostering and about monetary gifts for further elaboration. We encourage you to copy and share the posts on this page to promote the animals.
