Whew, what a day 😅
Reba’s whelp started this morning around 6:00, we cruised through the first 7 babies very routinely and they were all here around noon! Our protocol is to do an X-ray a week before our girls whelp to give us a general number of expected puppies, which in turn helps us determine how the whelp is progressing. This time we knew Reba was having 8 sweet potatoes, so when she stalled out after having the first 7 I knew something was wrong. I called up to the ABSOLUTE BEST at Blue Springs Animal Hospital and Pet Resort and we got her up there asap. They did a second X-ray to confirm one more remaining puppy and then performed a C Section that kept both momma Reba Rooster and baby boy #8 alive and healthy!! We want to send a HUGE shoutout to the team at Blue Springs Animal Hospital for helping us today, things could have gone very differently but for now we are all tucked in and warm for the foreseeable future!

Now that everyone has found their homes, we are excited to announce our new goldie babies! Ms. Lilac and Ms. Pink will be staying here at Farmstead to continue on our Angus Legacy and be to be best pals with Emersyn. This sweet boy is looking for his forever home! Mr. Green is a super sweet, loveable hunk. He has done a superb job with our F51 Puppy Curriculum, which includes precursors to potty and house training and basic puppy manners. Have you been thinking about getting a Goldendoodle but are unsure of the puppy phase? Is your schedule just too busy for multiple potty breaks each night?? We have 4 F1B Goldendoodles that are alittle older than our typical puppies and are looking for their perfect families. Available puppy alert: Meet Mr Black from our recent Reba x Max litter! He’s a wavy coated F1B Goldendoodle boy with lots of personality. He’s a fun and energetic goofball who loves to lean and give love. He is currently 5 months old and looking for his family! He is crate trained, sleeps through the night, and is working on basic obedience!

Day 55: Tennis ball is life! Mr Green loves his tennis ball…and really they all do but that’s to be expected as they are Golden Retrievers and their mother LOVES tennis balls. Actually we spell it most of the time so she doesn’t get too excited. 😆

Day 54: Our first car ride! Our first kennel ride! Our first visit to Blue Springs Animal Hospital! All the things! Today the puppies received 4th deworming, 2nd round of vaccinations, and another overall checkup from our team. We were definitely a popular room to visit today! Day 53: It’s bath time! These cuties got some extra special snuggles before, during and after their baths. Tomorrow is their final vet visit before going home with families and they need to be squeaky clean to show off at the vet.

Angus
F51’s The Great Angus Schmangus

It’s with much sadness that we announce the passing of Angus. He was quite literally the best dog ever. He was the anchor of our breeding program and of our F51 herd for almost 13 years. He came into our lives at a time of great joy and we had so much fun with him. He would actually do anything we asked him to do, jump off diving boards, go down slides, pose for Hallmark photos with a family he’d never met and he loved therapy visits with children. He and Eden were our first Pet Partners therapy team. He was incredibly healthy until the very end. He lived 13 nearly perfect years and was loved by and loved many people. We thank Danny Thurber and Jeff Oden for their love of Angus during his senior years.
He sired Golden Retriever and Goldendoodle litters and many of his puppies show the sign of royalty with the black spot on their tongue.
His genetic legacy will live on through our Angus Legacy dogs in Charlie, CJ, Dolly, Max and June. They all have Angus’ zest for life!

Day 52: Exploring new spaces! All the puppies ventured upstairs to meet potential families and got to explore the kitchen. Exposing them to as many new experiences as we can is an important part of our curriculum and makes for a happier and easier puppy for you to take home.

Day 51: Puppies and toddlers! Early socialization is extremely important for puppies and for toddlers. Supervised by an adult and at the right time of day for each of them.

Day 50: In our final week at Farmstead 51, we’ll work on manding, which is the precursor to “sit” and is really about impulse control. And we’ll work more on crate training, which is also about impulse control and self soothing.
