No more feeling guilty about leaving your cat alone! You can provide them with endless fun and exercise, even when you're away from home or focusing on other tasks.

Let automatic toys keep your cat entertained. Our Remote Control Car toy has a stand-by mode where it can be activated by a simple swat. ✨😼 One activated, it will zoom and twirl around the room, leading your cat on a high-speed chase! 🚗💨

Our Electronic Ball toys also react to your cat's touch and will enter sleep mode after 5 minutes of inactivity. Silicone skin helps the ball move around quietly while it dances in unpredictable movements that appeal to kitties' hunting instincts.

This next addition to our automatic cat toy ensemble is perfect if you want something super simple and wildly entertaining.🌼🦋 Cats can't resist the satisfaction of taking down our Twirling Butterfly toys. Just flip the switch and watch them go wild!

Love the convenience of these automatic cat toys? Use them to keep your cat active and happy without any extra hassle. www.whiskerandwoofpetsupplies.com

Does your cat display traits associated with the KIT gene? 🧬

The KIT gene impacts the pigmentation of a cat's coat, specifically when it comes to cats with white fur. Tuxedo and calico cats, for example, are thought to exhibit their unique coloring due to variations in the KIT gene.

The KIT gene can also influence eye color, often leading to the appearance of blue eyes. However, not all white-furred, blue-eyed cats look this way because of their KIT gene.

Other factors like albinism can also cause white fur and blue eyes in cats. For example, if your cat has Siamese or Tonkinese heritage, their coloration can potentially be attributed to partial albinism.

So, what do you think? Based on your cat's pattern or even their breed, can you see the effects of the KIT gene in their coloration?

Dogs and cats possess a unique anatomical feature that often goes unnoticed – third eyelids, also known as nictitating membranes. These translucent, crescent-shaped membranes lay tucked away in the inner corner of the eyes and play a crucial role in maintaining eye health and comfort. 👁️✨

The nictitating membranes serve as windshield wipers of sorts, sweeping across the corneas to remove debris, dust, and other irritants. They are typically an elusive sight, but there are some circumstances in which they become visible.

Exposed third eyelids are not always cause for concern. You may see them for a moment after your pet blinks and the membrane is still sliding back into place. Genetics can also come into play, making the nictitating membranes more visible on certain dogs and cats.

If you notice that your pet's third eyelids are red or puffy, you will want to discuss this with your vet 🐾👩‍⚕️ as eye infections, allergies, or injuries can cause inflammation of the nictitans glands, leading to protrusion.

One condition called "cherry eye" is common for dog breeds like Bulldogs and Shih Tzus. Cherry eye is especially noticeable as, in these situations, the nictitating membrane has pr*****ed and may need to be surgically put back into place. If caught early, cherry eye can be mitigated before surgery becomes necessary, so again, be sure to consult your vet if you notice redness, inflammation, or a change in the appearance of your dog or cat's third eyelids.

Hi furrends, there was a post recently made about a poor cat who lost their life in a clothes dryer. In the middle of loading it with laundry, the owner stepped away and did not realize his cat had jumped into the dryer and nestled in with the clothes. The owner is absolutely devastated.

We're sorry to share such a heartbreaking story with you all, but we feel that, especially with the colder months ahead, this is an important message to spread:

Cat owners who do laundry at home, be careful when using your dryers. Close the door when you are done using it and, if you're loading the dryer up and need to turn your back for any reason, double check before turning it on. Some may ask how it's possible to not notice a cat in there, but they can really blend in with your clothes especially if partially covered and/or curled up, asleep. A quick web search will show how surprisingly common dryer accidents are for cat owners.

This is in no way meant to shame the owner of the cat in this story but rather to spread this simple tip around so others don't have to share the same heartbreak.

Airlines have strict guidelines regarding pets, and failure to comply can result in denied boarding! 😳 Don't let that happen to you. Ensure a successful journey for yourself and your furry friend by asking the right questions beforehand. Here are 6 questions you 100% NEED to know the answers to before flying with your pet by airplane. ✈️🐱🐶

Drop any questions you have in the comment section below and follow us for more guides on happy, healthy pet parenting!

1) Are there restrictions on size, weight, or breed? Even pet-friendly airlines may have restrictions such as not allowing brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds to travel because they are more sensitive to heat and stress.

2) Will my pet be flying cargo or carry on? To determine this, check your airline's pet policy. Typically, pets below 20 pounds and small enough to fit under the seat in front of you are allowed in the cabin, while larger pets need to be checked as cargo.

3) What are the carrier requirements? This will depend on whether your pet is flying cargo or carry on, so make sure to confirm the answer to question #2 first. Common rules that apply to both scenarios include requiring a carrier be well-ventilated, marked with a Live Animal sticker, and large enough for your pet to stand up and turn around.

4) Does the airline have a good track record with pets? In addition to reading customer reviews, you can also view the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) monthly Air Travel Consumer Report to see if your airline has a record of animal loss, injury, or death.

5) Which health documents are required? This varies depending on airline, country of origin, and country of destination. However, some common required documents for pet travel include a health certificate signed by a veterinarian, vaccination records, and proof of microchipping.

6) What is the check-in and pick-up process? You may be asked to reconfirm your pet's reservation 48 hours before your flight and pay an additional fee at check-in. If your pet is flying cargo, there is probably a designated drop-off area you'll need to visit a few hours prior to your flight, and they may need to be picked up at baggage claim.

Drop a tunnel in a room and you'll find they can have many purposes to a cat. Kitties with zoomies like running through them, some like to drag their toys in, and others just think tunnels are a great place for a nap. Many cats love leaping from the openings to pounce on anything from a feather teaser to other resident cats...or your foot 🙀 (if you're not careful!)

Because of their dual status as both predators and prey animals, cats seek out enclosed spaces where they can easily hide from potential threats...and ambush potential kills. 😼🐁 Cat tunnels serve as the the perfect stake-out spot since they're designed to be the right size for kitties to feel protected but still freely move around in. They also have large openings on the ends and smaller "windows" along the middle, providing many exit points and places to spy out of.

Tunnels are an essential toy for many cat owners because they see how much their fuzzy friends love having the extra real estate for playing, exploring, and watching the world go by. See how your cat makes use of a new tunnel and choose from our selection of 2-way and 3-way cat tunnels in a variety of colors at www.whiskerandwoofpetsupplies.com

Perked ears typically signal playfulness or curiosity when a cat or dog's muscles, especially their tail muscles, are otherwise relaxed. When feeling threatened, they are likely to flatten their ears as a defensive gesture in order to protect these sensitive appendages from harm. However, this is not always the case, and ears are just one piece of a big puzzle! 🧩

Stiff muscles, raised hackles (an animal's back hair), and pointed tails signal fear and aggression, so consider as many body language cues as possible when interpreting a cat or dog's feelings. Dogs in particular may exhibit all these cues combined with perked ears when angry.

These hard-and-fast rules apply to EVERY cat in the world 🐱🌎

Here are 3 things cat owners (or friends of cats) should never do and why you should never do them.

1️⃣ NEVER declaw cats as this requires the amputation of the last bone of each toe, which can lead to lifelong pain and discomfort. To blunt your cat's claws, opt for scratching posts and regular nail clippings instead.

2️⃣ NEVER trim a cat's whiskers which are essential for their spatial awareness. Because cats use their whiskers to judge distances, navigate through tight spaces, and avoid obstacles, trimming can disorient them and make moving around safely difficult.

3️⃣ NEVER pull a cat's tail as it is an extension of the spine and contains many nerves. Pulling a cat's tail can cause pain, nerve damage, dislocation, and even paralysis.

It's always important to be kind to animals 🤗 and staying informed will help you make the right choices regarding the safety and wellbeing of our furry friends. Want more tips for healthy, happy cats? Visit www.whiskerandwoofpetsupplies.com/cats

What makes stainless steel bowls so fantastic for pets?

Stainless steel is:

✨ non-porous meaning it does not have tiny holes or gaps that bacteria can reside in. This makes it a very hygienic option for not just bowls but also medical equipment.
🧼 easy to clean. On top of being non-porous and bad at harboring bacteria, stainless steel does not rust and is also dishwasher safe.
💪 extremely durable and resistant to chipping and cracking. No need to worry about your pet chewing up these bowls!
💸 relatively inexpensive. You don’t have to break the bank when making the transition from plastic bowls to stainless steel.

🥣 Our stainless steel bowls come in different sizes starting at $4.99 for the smallest bowl and $10.99 for the largest. Grab them for your pet at www.whiskerandwoofpetsupplies.com/product-page/stainless-steel-dog-bowls

25/10/2023

Dogs and cats are not completely color blind, but they do have a more limited range of color vision than humans. Objects in shades of yellow and blue 💫🩵 are easier for them to distinguish than those in shades of red and purple. 🍅🍆 So, does this affect the kinds of toys you should give to your pet?

While yellow and blue toys might be easier for cats and dogs to see, both animals sense the world through smell more than sight anyway. Because of this, the color of the toy is not a very important factor when selecting the best one for your furry friend. What’s far more important is that the toy is a safe choice for your pet and if they will have fun with it!

Just like human fingerprints, no two cat or dog nose prints are alike! The pattern of bumps and ridges on a cat's or dog's nose is determined by a number of factors, including their genetics, breed, and environment. These factors cause the bumps and ridges to form in different patterns, resulting in a unique nose print for each animal.
