Thoughtful post of the day.....
For all the mare owners ISO stallion - Must be in Buckles....
No judgement here, but I want to cause food for thought.
It will cost $500 or more every year now to keep those foals nominated. So by the time your foal is a 4yo that is an extra $2000 per head invested, on top of stud fees, breeding fees and keeping them alive for 4 years. Then please have a look at the entry fees if/when you get them trained and able to enter, plus staying at the events for a solid week.
There are so many futurity sidepots at events these days that cost you $0 except show up and enter. Also incentives like Tomorrows Legends are a 1 time $200 pay in with $0 entry fee.
Also I see so many wanting to breed running blood to cow blood that is unproven in the barrel pen. I understand your motives. You want to add soundness, good mind, and desire to work a barrel. May I ask why you dont put more emphasis on breeding the Crazy fast speed horses to old school proven barrel lines to achieve the same goal?
We stand Hankerelse almost as a side option to me enjoying running him. I am an older lady and I have trained him and haul him myself. There are plenty of references about his demeanor at races. He is incredibly sound, I run him barefoot. His feet are amazing. He is 6 panel perfect clean. He is by Letta Hank Do It, a great sire and emerging maternal sire star, who was a half brother (maternal so yes accurate) to Firewater Flit. His mother was by Runnerelse, a direct son of Magnolia Bar, classic old school proven barrel horses.
Maybe instead of chasing the buckles and unproven cow blood, you might consider that Hankerelse might be exactly the perfect cross on your running lines that are all becoming so over crossed on many pedigrees?
We would love to work with you yet in 2025. Give us a shout.
