Pity the poor Downing Street Cat. As we cat lovers know they hate change. I stand to be corrected but I think this poor p***y has had, Theresa, Boris, Liz, Rishi and now Keir. The removal men must be very happy though.

We lost Gazal this morning. A daughter of Paris, purchased from Babolna, she was born in 2002. She gave us two cracking foals, Under Milkwood pictured here and full sister Antigone. Under Milkwood is a graded stallion and sister Antigone a talented SJ. When I looked out of my kitchen window this morning, I noticed she was not weight bearing on one hind leg. This was swollen and I initially thought a tendon injury. The vet was called immediately but by the time she arrived Gazal was down. She was given pain killers but we could not get her on her feet again so she was put to sleep. A very sad farewell to a lovely mare.

Wow. A Cleveland Bay Appalloosa how smart it this. Well done Jo Strange.

With Cleveland Bay Horse Society – I just got recognised as one of their top fans! 🎉 Not sure how this happened, I used to be persona non grata!! I love the breed but would love to see more Cleveland Bay horses competing in the 4 SJ/Eventing/Dressage and Endurance. They can do it all. Most people who buy a horse do not aspire to win Badmington or an Olympic Medal. They DO want to have fun with their horses at local shows. The CB can do this very well for the 'average' rider. I am a Hack Happy Geriatric.

"He is the nicest stallion I have ever dealt with." Quote from my Coach who comes to teach me every Wednesday morning. I am a very nervous rider and now in my 70's but love riding Woody (Under Milkwood). My French Coach spent over 20 years in the UK, incuding time at a well known Equestrian Centre near Edinburgh. He has a lifetime of experience with horses. Here are some photos of my lovely boy, who produces some smart foals too. Frozen semen available in Europe/UK/USA.

Orange France ...NIL POINTS. Week before last, no internet. Orange will fix the following Monday it will take 3-4 days. Friday Nothing and NO information. We are told the phone line is down and will be fixed following Monday (yesterday). No now told it will be next week. No sign whatsoever of anyone doing any work on the phone lines. When we had no internet for 6 weeks ORANGE insisted the problem was in our house. NO. Wrong again the problem a kilometre down the road. ORANGE you are the worst provider of phone services we have ever encountered. INCOMPETENT. I am currently logged on via my Iphone.

Two recent photos of foals by Woody - Under Milkwood. The handsome bay 6 year old is Griffin, in Texas USA out of a Cleveland Bay mare owned by Gabrielle Gordon - thankyou for the photo. The grey yearling (about 9 months) in the photo is out of a Lusitano mare in France.

Professional photos of Antigone with Cecile at Belle Vue. This is only a 90cm class, a step down for Antigone who normally jumps 1.05-1.10M. The aim was to regain her confidence SJ. Despite being fearless, faultless and fast Cross Country she started refusing SJ. Two clear rounds with Cecile and as you can see from her face Antigone is enjoying herself again.

More photos of our CB herd in France. Stainmore Teazle, who is a really old girl, with her grand daughter Moonfleet, PBCB by our Shagya stallion Under Milkwood, white star. PBCB Aurora Leigh by our stallion's sire Tatianus out of Stoneridge Merindah Jundah. Merindah was only 15.2hh so Aurora is a small package of loveliness.

Antigone and Cecile at Ecuries Belle Vue. Cecile had several seasons jumping Antigone but had to give up the ride for health reasons. Last year Antigone competed as an Eventer and proved to be fearless Cross Country but started to refuse SJ both in training and in competition.

Cecile is now back in the saddle and I asked if she would jump Antigone again, explaining the problem. They had a training session together, where again Antigone refused several times. Cecile and husband Eric recommended she jumped two smaller classes last weekend and they jumped two clear rounds, this one at 90cm and somewhat exciting!! Cecile said "I told Antigone I what I wanted her to do, she said 'alright' but I want to do it really fast"

Many thanks to friend Gabrielle Gordon in Texas for these photos of Under Milkwood's son from her Cleveland Bay mare Foxhollow Seashell. She has done so much with him. Competetive trail riding; intro dressage; a recent St. Patrick's Day parade when he was very well behaved in spite of the crowds. My favourite photo is St. Francis Day when folk take their animals to church. Temperament and Conformation.

Under Milkwood is approved for both AFCAS in France and independently graded for SHGB in the UK. He has foals from Shagya, Lusitano, Freisand and Cleveland Bay mares. This wonderful temperament shows in his progeny. Frozen semen is available at West Kington Stud, UK, in France for Europe and in USA.

Yesterday, the people of Scotland waited for hours to wish farewell, to their much loved Queen, who loved Scotland. Here horse riders say farewell and in Aberdeen shire, farmers parked their tractors to form a farewell guard of honour. Our grandchildren stood on one motorway bridge to wish her farewell.

Beautiful arial shots, today, of Edinburgh bathed in sunshine.

As crowds lined the streets to pay their respects to The Queen on her final journey, what could have been more fitting than an equestrian guard of honour? As Her Majesty’s coffin made its way from Balmoral to Edinburgh over the weekend, among those who came out to say goodbye were cavalcades of ho...

We recently posted photos of a man who had walked 2,000 km around France with his horse. This was the final of Equi-Rando. There are 600 riders in France who help keep open all those old paths equivalent to British Bridle ways. If you are a horse rider we owe it to them to help preserve our off road routes.

I was just looking at the CBHS site to see if any photos posted yet from the Great Yorkshire Show and spotted this. What a delightful memory of HM and the Duke with two strapping CB's.

Congratulations to our Patron, Her Majesty The Queen, as the nation celebrates her Platinum Jubilee marking 70 years of devoted service.

This photo from our 1978 Magazine shows Her Majesty and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh at the Jubilee Parade, Great Yorkshire Show, 13 July 1977.

Horse and Hound article. https://www.horseandhound.co.uk/plus/opinion/jennie-loriston-clarke-soundness-in-dressage-horses-782716.

I am sorry but the FB link does not seem to work for this article but worht reading. When our stallion Under Milkwood was graded for the SHGB stud book, Jenny Loriston Clarke was the senior judge.
We sent our Shagya stallion Under Milkwood to the UK to start SJ because he could compete at 85cm in British Novice at aged 6yrs or 7yrs. In France under the cycle libre he had to be jumping 95cm at the age of 5 years. We were also advised by a French SJ that the was not ready to jump as 4 year old. For this reason Under Milkwood competed as an endurance horse (which was effortless) and then returned to SJ.

I love it that every year at Badminton in the UK we see older horses still competing at 5*.

SOUNDNESS is such an important topic from a breeding point of view. Many dressage horses seem to require specialist treatments during their careers nowadays, and I wonder whether this is because we are now breeding horses to have such huge, elastic paces that their bones and joints can’t quite kee...

In preparation for the Royal Windsor Horse Show in May and the celebration of our much loved Queen's 96th Birthday and Diamond Jubilee, some wonderful photos of our Queen and her horses.

I think The Daily Mail has it wrong, the two greys are referred to as Fell ponies, normally black!! These two look awfully like Highland ponies which HM also breeds.

A new portrait of The Queen with two of her beloved fell ponied has been released to mark her 96th birthday, as she quietly celebrates the landmark occasion in Sandringham.
