First time in 13 years, I’ve never had this happen. Ivy jumps in and tries to nurse Jasmine’s babies. Normally the girls who aren’t nursing FREAK OUT when pups try to nurse on them, it hurts! Normally momma, Jasmine, will freak out when another mother is around her babies. She let Ivy jump in and watched from the side lines. My dogs never cease to amaze me. Ivy is a seasoned mom, Jasmine is first time. Ivy was in nursing her babies until the day they left.

I’m so thankful I have great mothers, makes my job easier!

It was a long week, weighing puppies daily morning and night, along with bottle feeding. They are all gaining nicely and their noses have started to darken up. Their eyes should be open soon, can’t wait. 👀 🐶 🥰

It’s amazing how fast dogs bounce back. Here’s a picture of Jasmine yesterday, 1 day after birthing pups. She’s doing amazing and running around outside.

Baby pup photos begin!

They all weigh in between 10 ounces and 1 lb. Good news, they all gained approximately an 1/8 of an ounce. Doesn’t seem like much but her milks not even in yet, straight colostrum at this point. This builds a healthy immune system.

I’m up all night monitoring pups, making sure every one nurses. Smallest first then the larger ones. So far we’ve needed no supplementation with a bottle, Jasmine is feeding them on her own. The way nature intends. We only step in and bottle feed if needed.

I wouldn’t be able to do this without an around the clock crew; Rachel, Daniel, Russ, Joshua and Kevin all help with washing blankets, monitoring, feeding dogs, and helping with the house. They are in our home for the entire 8 weeks, always inside, always being socialized and loved on. No outside kennels for any of my dogs.

We’ve been registered CKC breeders for 13 years, our oldest girl is Penelope Kay (Penny), we have kept every dog we’ve owned, not one has been rehomed. Why, because they are our pets, living in our home. We could never think of them going anywhere else. They’ve done us well with beautiful, healthy pups, they deserve to live their lives out on our 42 acre farm. There are times we think we’re crazy for doing this, it’s a lot of work, however, I feel I have the best job in the world. We’ve raised therapy dogs, service dogs and wonderful family pets. I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

Next on the docket is Gloryland’s Maxie, she was the smallest of the litter, she also had the most spice🤣 I find the smallest are the feistiest and keep the others in line.

Mr Cooper weighed in at a whopping 16 lbs, definitely the biggest of the bunch, although the most laid back and chill of them all.

Next to go home is Gloryland’s River Bank Pawse! He’s a reading kind of guy, he knows good books when he sees them, albeit they put him to sleep. 📚 😴 🤣
