Dogs & fireworks - please share if this will help a dog you know!

Here is the 4th of July routine I follow for my fearful dog. We give him prescription anti anxiety medication and prepare a "safe room" for him (he chose the downstairs bathroom as his "safe spot"). Lots of exercise in the morning and some stuffed, frozen Kong chews for him as it gets dark. Good luck to all the dogs this year! 🐾 🎆

Let me know what has helped your dog during fireworks (if anything). Benadryl is one option that can help some dogs feel calm if they're scared. Our vet said it's OK to give Benadryl to dogs.

Benadryl for dogs during fireworks, does it work? How much to give? Is it safe? The general dose is 25mg per 25 pounds of body weight.

Rip is off on a big adventure! He's staying in Wisc with my parents for a week before heading to his breeder for 14 wks of gun dog training! 🦆 I miss him already but he's going to have fun and learn so much! Meanwhile, I wait for our human baby to arrive. 36 weeks.

Rip walked his first 10K yesterday, no problem! But nice to have a tired pup afterwards. He also completed a 5wk beginning obedience class last week. No, that does not mean he's obedient! Working on it. Haha. 🐾

In 2021 I had the goal to run, walk and bike 2,021 miles (any combo). I'm happy to report I met my goal! 🏃‍♀️

I'm so thankful I got to race a trail 10K with my dog in June, race 24 miles on the Bangtail Divide trail in July, race the Jackson Hole 10K while 12 wks pregnant and a 9-mile hike up to 9,000 feet with Josh in October. And hundreds of miles with Remy pup a step ahead. I do not take movement for granted. 🐾
