This is why you should not just take the internet's word for everything. Do your own research preferably with people that own these dogs.

The compact but muscular Australian Cattle Dog is related to Australia’s famous wild dog, the Dingo. These resilient herders are intelligent enough to routinely outsmart their owners.

Why do you love the breed?

And this is why we don't buy squeaky toys anymore. Our yard was being filled with the remnants of them.

"Australian Cattle Dog
Descendants of Australia's infamous wild dogs called dingos, these canines are about as rough and tumble as they look! Alert, reliable, and tenacious, they were bred to withstand a hostile landscape as they helped drive beef cattle across thousands of square miles of Outback territory. Australian cattle dogs are also called heelers, because they move cattle by nipping at their feet—so you know they'll get the job done. They can't abide apartment living or other dogs, but put them in the country and give them something to do, and you'll have a great companion for life." https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/25-herding-dog-breeds-hard-221300727.html

I don't agree that they can't do apartment living. You must have an active lifestyle, be able to walk them several times a day, use dog exercise areas, do agility or they will get themselves into trouble. They can like other dogs but it is always on their terms.

Great video on Cattle Dogs. It is also interesting that working lines are often very different looking than the show lines. We picked ours for their brains and less on how close to show standard they are.

Tell me about it. For some reason our pups line up on the calendar for their vet care. For a couple months I am at the vet almost weekly for shots, tests and checkups.
