UPDATE: ERIK was EUTHANIZED by OC Animal Care 09/22/2024
ERIK is on the EUTH LIST at the ORANGE COUNTY, CA SHELTER. He needs a RESCUE COMMITMENT by 5:00pm on 09/21/2024 or he WILL BE EUTHANIZED.
ERIK is a 2 year old, neutered PitBull that came into the Orange County shelter on 08/08/2024 as a stray from the City of Tustin. Upon his arrival at the shelter, it was noted that he was hyper and strong.
After ERIK was neutered he was made available for public adoption on 08/13/2024.
He had URI and diarrhea, and was treated and recovered from both ailments.
Now, shelter staff says he has 'concerning levels of arousal' in his kennel and has been seen circling in his kennel and bouncing off the walls so the shelter vet has been medicating him to try to calm him down.
When he was taken out of his kennel for pictures and videos, shelter notes say he was body slamming the handler, mouthing the leash and taking treats with a hard mouth. (Perhaps if he had been getting enough physical exercise and mental stimulation on a daily basis, he wouldn't be so bored in his kennel.)
On 09/06/2024, ERIK was pulled off of the available list, and about a week later he was put on the euthanasia list.
ERIK is a young healthy dog that needs lots of exercise. He would also benefit from some basic training and socializing with other dogs.
