Chilly January temps and snowfall didn't dampen the spirits of four more fun adoptions. Check 'em out and smile.

Do you know what a Bassett Hound/Beagle mix is called? It's a Bagel! Young bagel Oliver found a home with Lisa and Bob, who happily adopted him as soon as his four paws hit PA soil. They recently lost their eleven year old Bassett, Nellie, and were delighted to find young Oliver. Off they went home to their Ohio home, with lots of laughs on the way. This was such a fun group!

Victoria grew up with dogs and hoped to find a canine companion to share her Erie apartment and get along with her 13 year old cat. Sweet Robin said yes, please, and is now named Maple, all ready to blend into the Erie winter.

Here's an adoption that made everyone feel particularly good. Jim and Barb love dogs and have enjoyed having a total of three in their home over the past 50 years. When their corgi/beagle Gabby recently passed, they didn't know if they could find an older, easy-going dog to fit into the empty space she left behind. Boy, did we have a dog for them. Seven year old Windy was a favorite of her foster home, and no wonder. She is genuinely the sweetest dog anyone can imagine, calm and loving, all she wants to do is get her some lovin'. This nice couple was happy to oblige. And if you look closely at the adoption photo, you can see Windy is smiling.

Diana says she has had five wonderful dogs over the years, typically two at a time. She was hoping to find a playmate for Eden, her seven year old lab mix. Pretty girl Nobility came to us needing some serious pounds put on her, which her foster home easily accommodated. Diana works from her home in Pittsburgh so will be able to observe and enjoy the new dog-sisters living life together. !

All of these adoptions were made possible through the generosity of fostering. When people remark about fostering by saying, "we don't know how you do that", we think, "we don't know how you can't". It's really a special experience. We supply all equipment, work around your schedule, and provide on-going support. You supply the love. You can take one dog a year or a dog every week, up to you. Give it a try, simply follow the link on our website!

Got the "too cold, too much snow"January blues? Gentle, steady Lizzy will turn that frown upside down. She LOVES swimming through the drifts and rolling around in the white stuff, especially if belly rubs follow. She loves belly rubs. Unlike many Cattle Dogs, Lizzy is a laid-back lady who prefers snuggles to races. She is six years old, surrendered after having a litter of puppies, and is a nice, medium size at 48 pounds. 🎶 "If you love Lizzy, like we love Lizzy, oh, oh, oh what a gal!"🎶

Chester is pretty serious about getting adopted, but that's the only thing distracting him from his daily mission to find FUN . He knows that labs are popular pets and while his shiny, black coat sets him apart from the crowd, it's really his good-natured, playful disposition that makes him such a gem. Chester is just over a year old and about 46 solid pounds; this guy would love to be your next right-hand-man, er, dog. Check out his snow shots on the Happy Bark website for some major contrast in shading! Then grab an application and let him know you're coming for him.

This is a call for a special adopter. We all know what good pets Beagles make, for all the reasons! This is Cookie, a senior beagle gal who needs a calm, loving home to live out her golden years. She was found as a stray, is estimated to be 8 to 10 years old, and has the sweetest nature. She gets along with everybody and loves soft blankets. Her favorite thing to do is cuddle up close to your leg as you both lounge on the couch and snooze while you binge your favorite show. Cookie only has four teeth left so soaking her yums ahead of time makes her happy. She's only had one accident since arriving in her foster home, so it looks like she might be house trained, too. Can you open your heart and home to Cookie? She will repay you with all the love she can give. Please consider having this special gal join your family and share this post to help Cookie get adopted.

Deep snow can be a challenge when your belly and bits are only a couple of inches off the ground, but dachshund mix Crystal is doing her best to acclimate. She has a pretty reverse-brindle coat on her 22 pound body and her short little three year old legs are doing their best to keep her hopping. If you'd like to meet this curly-tailed cutie, simply grab a no-obligation application from the Happy Bark website to get started. 🐶

"Golly Bob Howdy!" If you're a Toy Story fan, you knew caught that reference right away to the slinky-dog pull-toy-on-wheels that was a favorite of Andy's. BUT...

Did you know that "Golly Bob Howdy" is also an exclamation of excitement? It originated with a 1980's tv and movie character named Ernest P. (for Powertools) Worrell, famously played by Jim Varney, an actor from Kentucky who used his "golly bob howdy" catch-phrase to show excitement in commercials and on the big screen. .

Well, guess what, this, too, is Slinky! He's a sleek, honey brown, amber-eyed guy with a laid back personality and a penchant for fun. Click on the link below in comments to see more photos of this hunky fella and read about his hopes and dreams.

Tawny is a beautiful young Yellow Labrador Retriever, most likely a pure-bred since she came from a Kentucky breeder downsizing their business. Tawny is a year and a half old, 48 pounds, with a lot of sweet puppy-playfulness, especially where TOYS are involved. She loves toys. Her sweet, gentle nature makes her a stand-out in a crowd and don't even get us started on how downright gorgeous she is. Dogs like Tawny don't come into rescue very often, so if you among those who value and appreciate the many positive qualities of Labs, grab an application PDQ to get in line for this gem. Beautiful Orion lost his adoptive home due to allergic sensitivities of people in the family. Both Orion and his adopters were heartbroken but sometimes reality has to be faced. So, only a year and a half old, Orion is again on the search for his own furever place in the sun. Doesn't he have the most gorgeous face? Orion has a chill vibe not common in Australian Cattle Dogs; he enjoys a good walk but is down with mushy cuddles afterwards. His 56 pounds won't even hog the whole couch, plenty of room for you... and more dogs! Orion has polite manners and is completely house trained. There are some really nice photos of Orion playing in the snow on his page on the Happy Bark website, so hop on over and check them out. An adoption application is available at the same site. !

So beagle gal Tiny--isn't, really. Oh, she's about the same height as your average houndy-girl, but let's just say that she may have overindulged just a tad with dinner and snacks. No matter, she has SO much going for her in the right direction! She's a wonderful dog, surrendered through no fault of her own, a lover of walks, and playtime. She is adorable with dogs, cats, kids, you name it and Tiny loves them. The staff at our partner shelter couldn't say enough good things about her. And, she's house trained! What's not to love? Beagles are great family pets and Tiny is definitely representing in that area. Invite her to join you and share her love of...well, everything.

Dog Rescue Reimagined

Happy Bark is the brainchild of Eric Po***ck, who, after years of volunteering in various rescues and shelters, envisioned a different kind of dog rescue/adoption through positivity and partnership. In 2020, Eric invited three friends who also had experience in rescue to join him in creating Happy Bark, Inc. We are a forward-thinking, foster-based rescue with a philosophy of team collaboration, celebration, and proaction in rescue and adoption. Please check out the “About Us” tab on our website for more information.
