Changing behaviors with puppies, adult dogs and various problem behaviors. At Happy Hound Happy Home Dog Training and Rehabilitation, LLC, we understand that your dog needs to be trained for the real world, not just knowing a bunch of obedience commands. We teach dogs to make proper decisions when out in the world. We start with a calm state of mind so they can take in the information being taught.

Ringo has been working on the “Let’s Go “ and “Come” commands. Let’s Go is about following along staying with me! And we want to be able to get the best Come command we can for a young pup! Practice often! @

We are finally able to get out for walks again. The weather had just been too cold. He did well on the walk. He gets concerned about cars and trucks going by, but it’s better with each walk.

Ringo is doing very well with his Place command. The Place command will be helpful with his impulse control.

Some play time with Ringo. We like that he’s learning to push the ball around. Good for him to herd a ball and not ankles.

This is Ringo’s first introduction to the Place command. We use the Place command to teach relaxation, calmness and impulse control.

Took Ringo out on his first walk down the street. He did pretty good. He’s a bit afraid of trucks and some cars. That will just take getting him out more around them.

We are slowly laying down the foundation of a good heel walk with Ringo before adding in the distractions of the real world.

We took Ringo out right away and replaced the harness with a collar and longline. Not asking much of him, just to understand how to release the pressure of the collar and to create a follower out of him and not a leader on leash.

Their excitement is often the ONLY reason we want them to meet another dog.
They can drag us (often at speed), towards another dog they want to meet.
Even with the happiest/friendliest dog that pulls towards another dog....things can change in an instant once they actually meet.💥
Sometimes the over excitement of seeing another dog means they haven't assessed the situation and often we haven't assessed the situation either, we just want to make them happy!
Face to face, tight leads and over excitement when meeting another dog can and does lead to very big issues.
Take the time to assess.
Take the time to teach your dog how to meet dogs in a way many dogs appreciate!
