This sweet pup is Klein. Klein is 16 weeks old (as of 7/11/24) and currently weighs 20 lbs. Klein has typical puppy energy, is doing well with potty training, and is a happy-go-lucky boy. Klein is good with other dogs and children. Klein will do best in a home with a dog-savvy cat or one without a cat. Klein is learning so much in his amazing foster home and is now ready for his own home.
His foster mom shared:
Klein does amazing in his crate at night. When you put him in during the day, he will whine/howl for a minute, but settles down quickly. He loves to play, walks well on a leash, and enjoys playing with other dogs. He wants to play with my cats too, but is a bit rough and my cats just want to rub up on him so won't stay away. He eats quickly so a slow feeder or putting part of his meal in a kong slows him down. He has been great with going potty outside. He is practicing sit, come and fetch. His baby teeth are super sharp and he needs occasional reminding to chew on his toy when he thinks an arm or toy is fun to nibble on. He rides well in the car (does not drool or get sick). Does best when he has company to sit with- then he will just curl up and rest.We have taken him into Tractor Supply twice and he has been on his best behavior
While we can not confirm his specific mix, we believe he may be hound/mountain cur, possibly lab.
This spirited beauty is Brenna! Brenna’s birthday is 1/22/24, she weighs 21 lbs, and has the shiniest black coat. She is very smart, curious, and loves to play with other dogs.
Brenna can be a bit of a high-energy player so she would do best with another dog that can match her energy level. She learns quickly and will blossom in a home where she can continue her training. Brenna will need all the puppy basics as well as continued physical and mental exercise to support her sharp mind.
Although Brenna loves the companionship of other dogs, she can also be independent playing with her toys or napping in her crate. Brenna has been introduced to a leash and is doing well with leash walking. She is almost fully potty trained, sleeps through the night, and is well adjusted to a crate.
Our best guess is that Brenna is a lab mix and we expect her to be on the large size when fully grown. She has not been cat tested.

Zoey is a local girl looking to be rehomed due to no fault of her own. She is 2 years old and just adores humans. She is crate-trained, housebroken, and plays well with other dogs. She will be thrilled to find a new home with humans who can shower her with attention.

Arlo is super smart! He's learning so much from his foster mom. Such an attentive pup. If you would like to learn more about Arlo, please send us an application: https://www.vtdogrescue.com/arlo#vermontrescuedogs #vtdogrecue #rescuedogsofvt #rescuedogs #vtdogsofinstagram
Arlo is a fast learner, an eager explorer, and so curious!
This sweet pup has an estimated date of birth of 07/07/23 and weighs about 15 lbs. He is happy, curious, and playful. He arrived in VT on January 13 and is unwinding in one of our amazing foster homes. This is an update from Arlo’s foster mom.
Arlo has learned to:
Sit and wait to have his leash put on
Give eye contact on cue
Fetch!
Run fast around the yard picking up sticks
Follow the leader around the yard and to come running when called (we are FAR from recall though and he's always on a long line even in the fenced-in yard because sometimes he's too distracted by smells and sounds)
Arlo is good with:
Being touched and handled all over his body-including having his nails trimmed and being picked up
Not jumping on people
Giving nice soft eye contact
Engaging with people once he's had 10-15 min to observe them and make his own approach
Being redirected when he's doing something/is into something he shouldn't (though if he's really into it, he may need repeated redirections but takes them well)
Sleeping in his crate all night without any fussing
Being left in the crate for short periods when we're in the house and once when I left him for 20 min to run an errand
Pooping outside
Chewing on bones and relaxing
Once he's comfortable and acclimated (which is pretty quick), he's really curious and enjoys exploring. Arlo’s ideal home includes someone who has carefully puppy-proofed and can supervise him as he'll readily chew just about anything as most puppies do.
He also has a knack for finding holes in fencing and will test gates. Being prepared before bringing him home is important. Arlo has a bit of an independent streak so he's not the type of pup that will keep you in sight or stick to you like glue if you're outside. A secure leash/harness will be a must.

Merry Christmas from all of us at VT Dog Rescue!
This big fluffy loveable mush is accepting applications!
This dog has spent his life with his best friend in MS. Unfortunately, that person passed away recently and there was no one left to take care of Champ. He spent a few lonely weeks wondering where his dad was and why he wasn’t coming home before a neighbor notified a local rescue that he needed help. We learned about his situation and offered rescue.
Champ has been neutered and is up to date on vaccines. He’s great with other dogs and goats. As a laid-back, easy-going dog - Champ enjoys couch cuddles and Netflix binges. He is low energy and housebroken.
His fur was matted when rescued so he’s been shaved. He is normally fluffy and you can see his pre-shaved look in the video below his photo. He is estimated to be 6-7 years old and currently weighs about 80 lbs.
He has such a mellow, gentle personality and likes nothing more than to just be with people who love him.
His foster mom shared,
“He is the most loving dog I have ever met. He likes to lay on me while watching TV. LOVES pets and soft touches - even enjoys me brushing him.
If I stop too soon, he will place his big paw on me to ask for more. It's adorable."
Like many southern dogs, Champ has heartworm. We have already started his treatment and are committed to paying the cost so his new person will not start off with a vet bill. Champ’s veterinary care for this is covered.
We do not provide DNA testing which is the only way to know with certainty which breeds are in his genetic background. He most certainly has Great Pyrenees in him, but we are not sure what else is in the mix. We can't guarantee size at maturity, but we think he will reach 85-95 lbs when he fills out.
