VT Dog Rescue We rescue mixed breed dogs of all ages from high kill shelters in the South, rehabilitate and place them in loving homes.

VT Dog Rescue is a non-profit dog rescue. While there are many canine rescue organizations, our focus is on saving the underdog. The dogs who are passed over simply because they are not perfect. These dogs may have lost a leg or are shy. An underdog may be an older dog who is not as active as he used to be or one with a heart murmur. Dogs who have had a rough start in life but against all odds, ha

ve retained their ability to be loyal and trusting companions who love unconditionally. We believe the underdogs deserve to be rescued and placed in loving, responsible homes where they can shine.

Our sweet Biscuit is still searching for his forever family! 🍪💛

This one-year-old sweetheart is the perfect mix of goofy, handsome, and gentle. He's also a great size! He LOVES other dogs and really shines with a confident furry friend by his side. He can be a little shy when meeting new people but give him a minute to warm up and you’ll have the sweetest buddy ever.

Biscuit is well behaved for a young guy, but he’s still learning the ropes and would love a family who can help him keep growing.

In February of 2021, this beautiful pup was welcomed into an amazing adoptive home. Although we will never know the extent of abuse and trauma that Foxy experienced, we do know that sadly both of her ears had been removed prior to her coming into rescue.

We recently heard from Foxy's mom and she shared, "Foxy is doing great!!!! She was heartworm positive right after we adopted her, and she made it through the treatment... gosh I was a wreck. She is VERY attached to me... and I am VERY attached to her. She sleeps right with me every night! She seeks approval and attention often and is very well mannered! She does have PTSD and there are things that trigger her. She goes into a barking fit if anyone raises their voice; if people hug, kiss; or if I pick up our senior dog (to put her on the bed with us for the night). I wish she didn't have these episodes because it stresses her so much. She calms down within 30-60 seconds with reassurance. But I hate to see her stressed. Occasionally I post pictures of her on Instagram And I've attached recent pics here (showing how she sleeps with me... and her tongue hangs out! and how she loves to sleep on dad's head!) I love her more than words can express.... so much more! Thanks for ALL you do! And thank you for connecting me to my soul dog! We adore Foxy and feel very fortunate to have her in our lives. We are grateful for VDR!!! You are so important to these amazing dogs!"

Juniper has been in VT for about four months now, and her foster family has been nothing short of AMAZING!

They’ve helped transform this little Tasmanian whirlwind into an incredibly loving, health-conscious girl. Junie feels deeply about the state of the world and would like to remind everyone to:

🧘‍♀️ Move your body every day — Junie recommends yoga.
🤝 Get out and meet people — PFW has some lovely humans to greet
📚 Read to keep your brain happy, and
😴 Get plenty of rest every night!

And great news - Junie’s DNA results are in! She is:
• 31% American Bulldog
• 21% American Foxhound
• 18% Bulldog
• …and a delightful mix of lots of other breeds.

But most importantly, she’s 100% lovable.

Our girl, Juniper, is still looking for her new home! Juniper was found as a stray along with her 3 pups. She came into the shelter emaciated and heartworm positive - and has made an outstanding recovery thanks to the help of our southern partners.

Juniper's pups were all adopted this summer, and recently, Junie and her pup, Bailey, were reunited for a playdate. *Video in comments* Our hearts were so happy to watch them be reacquainted. 💛 We've included the original intake photos from the shelter and also a photo from their recent reunion. The transformation is amazing! 🙌🏻

Juniper is a 2 yr old mixed breed, playful, affectionate and very smart. She will do best in a home with a fenced yard, a quieter environment (away from the hustle and bustle of city traffic), and with a committed owner who is patient and willing to help Junie learn the world is a safe place. No cats or young kids please - this would be too much excitement for Juniper! 🤪

Juniper is a great size at about 30 lbs. She is crate trained, enjoys riding in the car, and has had some successful playdates with other dogs. She can be a bit pesky, so a playful, laid back, tolerant dog would suit Juniper well. Junie has a wonderful team supporting her, so if you are ready to take on the challenge, we can assure you there will be lots of help along the way. We believe in Juniper - she is a survivor and has easily weaseled her way into the hearts of her fans! 🥰

Please join us tomorrow (Sat 11/1) from 11-3 for some fun in Jeffersonville! We welcome everyone to stop by our table and say "hello".

It's a fall celebration for dogs, families and the community. There is fun for the dogs (trick or treating and a costume contest) as well as lots of goodies for the humans too. Warming areas will be available to help shake off the cold. Thank you to our friends at Northern Chapter Great Dane Rescue of New England for organizing such a great event and for the gracious invite.

Our approach to the adoption process is friendly, warm, compassionate & understanding. We care about our dogs and we are thankful for our applicants. We work with local businesses to secure discounted prices for our adopters on dog related services such as grooming, training, boarding & daycare. Our volunteers create the handmade beds we send home with each dog and we provide useful resources in our Adoption Kit.

VT Dog Rescue saves dogs of all breeds at all ages from puppies to seniors. We can help you find the perfect dog for your family and we provide lifetime support for that pup.
