Lost Woods Canines Ethical breeder, professional trainer, and TBTE practitioner. We strive for compassion and integrity. TBTE was developed by our colleague, Mark McCabe.

A lot of our training is based on Training Between the Ears (TBTE) training and principles. TBTE uses primarily reward and relaxation strategies to change the emotional state of dogs and help them moderate their own emotions. The techniques aim to build relationships with your dog by removing conflict, develop your dog’s self-motivation through success-seeking behaviors, and changing your dog’s pe

Our two lovely Beaucerons, Quest and Alita, will be spending some time with their wonderful breeder & co-owner to do some showing for the next few months.

As many of you know, the Lost Woods team was out of town Thursday-Sunday at a training seminar. Part of our philosophy in training (and life!) is to always know how much we don’t know. This pushes us to constantly seek new education and better how we train for the benefit of dogs and their people! This is why we are always open to changing our ideas and finding better ways to keep improving the lives of people and dogs.

Former foster, Poe/Beau came to visit!!!! We love seeing our healed pups come back. If anyone remembers Beau’s story, he was dog selective, a resource guarder, and had massive anxiety to where he struggled sitting still or lying down for long.

He is now an easy-going, happy-go-lucky guy that loves his doggy friends and his wonderful family ♥️

Quest is off with his breeder at shows and Gambit is off at duck camp with so I’ve been working a lot with my other up-and-comer, Onyx!

Onyx is my keeper girl out of my Rowdy x Yuna litter and I’m very happy with how she’s maturing physically and mentally.

This little girl ALWAYS has something in her mouth. She loves to retrieve, carry, and hold. She is easy-going and kind with the other dogs and loves to cuddle with me and her friends. Onyx turned 9 months old today and is as nice a puppy as I could ask for!

The future is looking bright for the Lost Woods hopefuls!

River would like to share that Happy Howie's rolls are back in stock! These are my absolute favorite favorite training treats. Also, due to popular demand, we are now carrying the smaller rolls! No shipping, this is pick-up only. I will also be bringing some with me to lessons so let me know if you want some, there is a discount for purchasing rolls at a lesson.

7 oz. rolls are $8.50 ($7 with lesson)
2 lb. rolls are $24.50 ($20 with lesson)

I included a photo of how many treats you can get out of the 2 lb. roll with River for scale.

Gambit is our up and coming boy from the Rowdy x Yuna litter. As an 8-month-old adolescent, he finds it difficult to be still! We do a lot of work early on with our pups to teach them to hold position. This is useful for conformation and obedience later on.

Lost Woods

To us, training is first and foremost about the relationship between owner and dog. Many common behavioral issues stem from a lack of communication. Rather than fix the symptoms, we seek to fix the root of these problems by finding ways for dogs and owners to better speak each other’s language. We believe in compassion for dogs AND owners. We do not judge. We believe in a balanced approach that encourages good decisions and sets clear boundaries. We believe in aligning the goals of the dogs with that of the owners so everyone is happy!
