one boy and some girls are looking for their handler

girls
Nightfall
very human oriented, loves to cuddle, motivated on toys and food, she's very cheerful. no reaction on sounds. balanced and calm in new situations. good with adults, kids and dogs. has good gentle approach. she's smart, quick, high level of energy, high drive. we keep her on co-ownership.

Ice
similar to Nightfall, but for an experienced handler. she's forward dog, very open, social, loves to cuddle but not for a long time, as she's busy with running and exploring. not impressed by any new sitiations. she's very clever, making her not a good choice for the beginner, she may outsmart him quickly. very promising for any kind of activity, eager to work.

Heartsbane
happy attitude, gentle sweetheart, social, good with adults and kids. probably will have lots of will to please, has natural retrieval, highly motivated on food. suitable for novice handler. she's not for a tough-handed person. doesn't care about cars, sounds, good in the city environment. may need some work on stranger dogs (different breeds) to gain more confidence.

Dark Sister
also gentle sweetheart, happy attitude, may need support from either human or balanced dog in new situations. also may have lots of will to please, has retrieval, highly motivated on food. no reaction on sounds, cars, good in city environment. also not for a tough-handed handler. may have good on off swith. very gentle towards kids, she can have novice handler or the one who won't rush her.

boys
Blackfyre
cheerful, happy attitude, very active, but calm on hands. social, open, good approach to dogs and kids, loves to cuddle, motivated on toys and food. Not affraid of noises. suitable for novice handler. my personal fav.

Longclaw
first think, then act - type. calm observer, but also active, likes attention, very balanced, confident, not getting over-excited. highly food and toy motivated. Very agile, forward. he's more serious than Blackfyre. suitable for experienced handler.

Our puppy plans for the following years

I already have some chosen studs for my girls for future breedings, however the situation is dynamic and depends on recent health conditions and new adult dogs that appear in the sports field or as new sheepdogs.

For sure I want to go back to Aslan (TYH Around The World, father of Avia) with one of our girls, but not sure which one yet. It would be the last litter of that female due to using frozen semen and advanced procedure connected with it. It would be in about 4-6 years.

I wished to use Lyn Howell’s Boss on Lassie, but it wasn’t possible as both are IGS carriers. So I plan to use him or his son on most probably Penny (3rd litter) or Yumi (2nd litter), both girls are IGS clear. I would rather not use them on Lassie’s daughters because one epilepsy case appeared after Boss and it would be a line breeding on Killiebrae Laddie, which I consider now as too risky, taking new facts into consideration. Penny and Yumi are definitely a more safe option.

Yumi’s first litter will be with one of the frisbee competitors, most probably in 2025. Yumi shows lots of potential and is very agile. Her mother and both grandparents on mother's side are successful frisbee competitors.

For Indie (Pieguska) I’m not sure yet, but most probably I’d go with sport lines stud. For Syrax I think it’d be more herding lines. They may be bred in 2025 or later, depending on their heat cycle and current litters we will have at home (I don’t want to have 2 litters at once).

I’m sure I will use BAW Sean someday, but also not sure on which girl yet - he is IGS carrier so it depends on the female’s DNA status. I hope one of Lassie’s daughters will be free from this mutation. For sure I may do breeding with Yumi. Sean, except being a powerful and successful sheepdog with a cool head, loves to retrieve the ball.

I also want to use lines that I already used in our earlier breedings per one litter for Penny, Yumi & Indie and new ones for Syrax litters.

Of course our further breedings also depend on the girls' first puppies. I need to collect as much information as possible, regarding health, character and predispositions, and take into consideration puppies' possible lacks, faults and advantages. I want to improve our pups in further breedings as much as possible, so it’s also dynamic and depends on many different factors.

Puppies will be FCI or FCI&ISDS registered.

Referring to the discussion under Penny & Ravi litter announcement.
I will answer the main question "am I not afraid of epilepsy" in this case. In my opinion, analyzing pedigrees, breeding lines, health issues, I estimate the risk of epilepsy in this combination as low or average/standard. Here’s why;
1. Hash - stud of Ravi, had only 2 epileptic pups per over 24 litters
2. Ravi's litter was repeated and in both there were 11 puppies in total (5+6), including one epilepsy affected dog. Considering that the litter was repeated and the risk of getting another affected dog was higher and it didn't happened in all these 11 pups again, that only one had epilepsy is in my opinion rather the matter of bad luck and incidence, than poor genetics
3. Penny's lines are quite safe in case of epilepsy
4. Inbreeding coefficient is low, only 1% in 12 generations, with no common ancestor in first 5 generations ➡️ higher heterozygosity ➡️ lower possibility of producing disease
5. There are incidental cases of epilepsy in overall view on the lines of Ravi. For interested people;
Why Not Hash My Queen x Wannahave Marvelous Alyx
Why Not Hash My Queen x Shadow of Aire Iris Ikea (being Ravi’s full brother)
Why Not Zet My Queen x Atomic of Austrian Diamonds (per over 20 litters of Zet)
Mawlch Woolie - his stud Eiri Greme Gwen being closely related to Hash’s stud; his full siblings have healthy progeny (in terms of epilepsy)
Fay Alchera - her mother is closely related to Hash’s mother; also her full siblings have healthy progeny
6. Ravi has healthy offspring

Subjectively this is not a value that significantly increases the risk of epilepsy in the Ravi & Penny combination, although I don’t say there’s no risk at all! Like in many other cases, lines, etc that seems to be healthy at the first look.

Now how genetics work in theory. Parents pass to their children half of their genes. The relationship of parents with their children is always 50%. The relationship in full siblings is from 0 to 100% (one puppy can inherit one half of the genes from the mother and father, and the other puppy the other half of both). Relationships in half siblings are from 0 to 50%. Example - Ravi can have a completely different set of genes than his full brother RaRaRapido, despite the fact that they come from the same parents (although this is less likely than in the case of half siblings, where the likelihood of different genes increases).

These are ABCA (American Border Collie Association) recommendations - do not repeat the combination of healthy dogs that together produced epilepsy nor breed dogs with epilepsy
https://bordercolliesyfoundation.org/health-and-education/genetic-diseases/
https://boards.bordercollie.org/topic/35643-abca-meeting-health-genetics-summary/

here are some similar recommendations regarding breeding and epilepsy in the Spinone Italiano breed
https://www.italianspinone.co.uk/index.php/health/specific-conditions/117-epilepsy/347-epilepsy-breeding-guidelines

In an ideal world and with an unlimited population, it would be ideal to exclude the parents and full siblings of a dog with epilepsy from breeding. But the reality do not allow it - epilepsy is deeply rooted in the breed, the brother of one of the founders of the breed had seizures. Of course, it does not improve the situation that some dogs are intensively used in breeding and have a high impact on genes in the population, because this limits heterozygosity and increases the risk of diseases, while stabilizing the type and strengthening specific traits. The greater the diversity of genes used in breeding, the healthier the population. Massive exclusion of dogs closely related to the affected dog would lead to an even greater narrowing of the gene pool, an increase in homozygosity and a greater risk of various diseases. Therefore, the previously linked recommendations seem to make sense from my biological point of view.

Neither negative reactions nor s**t storms won’t impact my breeding decisions. If someone doesn't like it, it's better to go for a walk with the dog or make yourself a cup of coffee instead of getting angry, because it won't change my opinion and what I do. Again I will highlight that - I’m open and honest about the health of my breedings, you may be sure that I won’t hide anything from anyone. So you may do your own business instead of expressing all the negativity you showed yesterday. I don’t need any unfriendly comments/reactions.

About High Tension FCI

Our kennel was established in 2012 and is FCI registered, we’re located in Poland (Europe), near the Baltic Sea. From the very beginning my point was to breed not only a nice-looking dogs. My perfect 'athlete' is elegant but also the more important healthy, very fast, focused, flexible, agile, with a good drive and temper that is proper for working border collie. My perfect dog also is naturally well-balanced, self-controled, moves easily between work and out of work (has an 'on/off switch'). At work giving all its best, but after that being calm. Always very committed, powerful, with great 'will to please', never gives up because of some defeat and can work under pressure. Our kennel’s founder bitch is Bright Star Speedy Dream “Korba”, mixed sport&show&working lines. I've found in her traits common with my small munsterlander, which have a great value for me (commitment to work, will to please, passion to retrieve). Also she's got something very useful in everyday life - balance and self-control. She can move easily between work and out of work.

Over the years spent with border collies and canine sports, I've changed my mind about what I want to do with my dogs and what will be connected with my breeding. At the beginning I had a clear purpose: dog frisbee and flyball. In July 2014 I've started an new adventure with Borders at Work Fan, and this adventure is sheepherding. Now I'm totally in love with it. In case of lack of time and possibilities to still be a leader of a flyball team, I've made a quite hard decision about quitting with flyball and continue to train only herding and frisbee.

What you need to know when asking a puppy from our kennel:

I plan my breedings for predisposition to work (high willingness to work and to cooperate, excellent structure and stamina), good health and lovely nature. I don't have interest in dog shows, we're focused on training and competing with our dogs in dogfrisbee and sheepdog trials.
